A Blackhawks Retirement for Bickell

Finally! Some good news in your timeline. And that’s the report that Bryan Bickell will retire as a Blackhawk. Bickell was a a key player in the Hawks Stanley Cup wins of 2010, 2013, and 2015. He called Chicago home for most of all of his NHL career before spending the 2016-17 season with the Carolina Hurricanes. He was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in November of 2016, but went on to play his last game with a shoot out win over the Flyers in April of 2017. The Chicago Blackhawks are signing him to a one-day contract so he may retire with the team that brought him his most success on the ice.

“As any professional athlete will tell you, stepping away from the game is extremely difficult especially given my circumstances,” said Bickell. “I’m honored to be retiring a Chicago Blackhawk-a team that has given me and my family so many great memories. I appreciate Rocky Wirtz, John McDonough and Stan Bowman for allowing me this opportunity.”
