Artificial sweeteners linked to obesity and diabetes

Sugar is the enemy, but so are those sugar replacements (allegedly). A study says switching to artificial sweeteners may not be the cure-all we thought. Researchers at the Medical College of Wisconsin and Marquette University saw links between artificial sweeteners and obesity and diabetes. Their study on rats found the sweeteners changed how the body processes fat and uses energy. The study doesn’t clearly say that artificial sweeteners are better or worse than sugar, but that doesn’t mean to throw out all of your pink and blue packets or stop drinking diet soda. It’s just another indication to use replacement sweeteners in moderation.
