ERIN CARMAN
Monday-Friday. 10a - 3p
My mother gave birth to me so my sister would have someone
to entertain her. That’s where my showbiz career began.
When I was five years old, I punched a kid in the face for
lifting up my dress. Things changed when I got to high school.
Sure, I partied like everyone else, but even if I was out
drinking a 12 pack of warm beer hidden in the trunk of my
car, I’d still make it home to study. God forbid I get
less than a 3.8.
I was always involved in sports, and tried cheerleading for
one year because my friend, Candy (yes, she’s a stripper
now) begged me. I hated cheerleading, but it was fun to hang
out with my friend. That is, until she got kicked off the
team for spitting a loogie on the field. I did say I grew
up in Ohio, right? A small town called Alliance, east of Canton,
south of Cleveland.
My radio career began in Pittsburgh where I was going to
school. Buzz Casey gave me my first break, and my first assignment:
to chaperone a bus-full of listeners to the Skid Row/ Pantera
concert. I was only 20. I was almost arrested. I was in love.
The cities changed, and so did the bands, but the love for
my job stays the same.
From Hollywood to the White House, I've sang the praises
of Chicago. No other city in the world compares to it, and
no other people are as real. When I had the chance to return
to the city I love, and to work for the greatest station in
the country "The Loop", I left everything behind,
and returned "home". "Welcome to Chicago, we're
glad you're here" the sign reads when you arrive. I want
to say to you: "Thank you, Chicago, for bringing me back".
Before returning to Chicago . . . I was the host of The Discovery
Channel's, Garage Takeover! Which is re-airing on the Discovery
Home Channel . . . CLICK
