Dear Loyal Loopers, For those of you that have been with us since 2005, we share some amazing memories of our first Rock Girl, Erica. (After Lorelei in the 80's, of course). Erica charmed us with her huge smile, snorting laugh and strong hugs. And she paved the way for Rock Girls to come! Since her Rock Girl rein she has married the love of her life (who she met here at The Loop), and moved to LA to pursue her career.

We have recently learned that she is in a tough battle against Lyme Disease. After years of mystery illnesses & hospital trips, a fierce affliction in May 2012 resulted in her diagnoses with late stage Chronic Lyme Disease with multiple co-infections. Yes, Lyme disease from a tick. Her battle is nowhere near over, but her family and friends are confident that her strong will and huge sprit will persevere!

Please join us in wishing her well and sending her all your positive thoughts and prayers by leaving your comments below!

Many insurance companies won’t pay for Chronic Lyme Disease treatments, and sick patients aren’t getting the treatment they need. Help Erica in her fight against Chronic Lyme Disease by donating to her Health Fund via the widget in the sidebar.

ABOUT LYME DISEASE:
What you likely don’t know about Lyme is that it is very controversial, there is no “cure,” and the treatments are very unconventional. The controversy prevents sick patients from getting the care they need and sadly leads to many deaths. This can be likened to the experience the world faced with the HIV/Aids epidemic in the 80’s. Now there are more Lyme cases than HIV in the US and unsuspecting blood banks are unknowingly spreading the disease further. Click here for more.

Lastly, if you have any family or friends that have a mystery illness that can’t be diagnosed or have been told they have Fibromyalgia, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lupus, Chrons, ALS, or MLS, please get them a high sensitivity test for Lyme. These ailments are frequently misdiagnosed with the real culprit often being Lyme. It might just save their life.

Oh man this is horrible news, how could I forget Erica! Met her a number of times, I was always happy to talk to her when she would stop by Zakk's afternoon Drive Radio show week day afternoons and was privileged to spend time with her and Zakk on the party barge that year for loop fest! One of my greatest memories of all the years that I have been an active Loyal Looper! Wishing you all the best and hope you can beat this Erica! Hopefully they will find a cure one day soon! You are a strong girl! Wishing you and your family all the best!

Stay strong and rock on girl!

@Char Gustafson Char - Please let me know where I can send a donation to help Erica. I cry every time I read her story and can't think of what you must be going through.

Missy and I are praying for Erica.

@Char Gustafson I am so sorry to hear how your daughter has been affected by Lyme. So many people have been devastated by Lyme they have had to set their ego and dignity aside and ask for help from others. I am a long time Loop Listener in the Chicago area. I was diagnosed with Lyme and a coinfection, Anaplasmosis in Sept, 2011. You can find my story by searching #LymeDisasterAid

I am rebuilding to help others suffering from Lyme on a real, longer term basis. If you are open to learning more you may contact me via any of our sites or pages (Facebook, twitter, YouCaring.com, etc.). I am still fighting Post Treatment Lyme Disease Syndrome (PTLDS) but I am ready to help.

We will keep Erica and your family in our prayers. God Bless!
