Mouse not required

We've blogged about the Leap Motion sensor, the tracking device that lets you operate your computer mouse, keyboard and touchscreen-free. Unfortunately, change is hard. People don't want to give up their oh-so-easy point and click for some computer system that looks more at home in Tony Stark's office.

That's why Leap Motion and Asus are forcing your hand. Starting sometime soon (no definite date yet) Asus computers will be sold bundled with Leap Motion sensors and the software pre-installed. If you want to add Leap Motion to your desktop or laptop, individual devices will be available as well.

For those who are unfamiliar, Leap Motion works like this: The sensor watches your motions within an 8-foot cubic space, then recreates that space in the computer. You motions are tracked within 1/100th of a millimeter. You then use your hands to operate the computer.

The stand-alone motion controller is selling for $69.99.
