The power of nostalgia

Never underestimate the drawing power of the "good ol' days." It's strong enough for a Nintendo fan to reverse engineer a handheld device to play today's Android games.

Chad Boughton fused an old Gameboy with the Galaxy Nexus for playing new games using old-school moves. Boughton first removed the Gameboy's screen, then shaved down the casing on the side to fit the Nexus snugly into the device. However, the Gameboy would have to connect with the smartphone wirelessly, so Boughton removed some of the guts and added pieces from a Wiimote, connecting them to the buttons. He then downloaded the Wii Controller IME app onto the Nexus, which lets the Gameboy and phone communicate.

The new hybrid isn't for sale, but it's fun to watch ingenuity marry the past with the present. Plus, Donkey Kong Country!
