It's not in production yet, but Volkswagen's new concept car should make heads turn when it finally comes off the assembly line. The CrossBlue comes with a front-mounted diesel engine and two electric motors; one for the front weels and a more powerful one for the back, making it all wheel drive.

The CrossBlue SUV is not only powerful, its a very efficient hybrid. You can get up to 14 purely electric miles, and it has a 85MPGe efficiency. The on-board battery pack can be charged by either the front or the back motor, or you can just plug it in to the wall. 

The SUV is also a bit tricked-out. Both front headrests have iPads embedded in the back to entertain kids or very fidgety adults. VW says they hope to kick off production in about one or two years.
