Here's an app to call people

Facebook has updated its iPhone Messenger app and hooray! You can now call Facebook friends straight from the Messenger app using VoIP if you have an iPhone (sorry Android users!).

Now, we want to remind you that your phone comes with a calling function built right in to it.  Phones these days have so many bells and whistles it's easy to forget about it being a phone, but whatever (now you kids get off my lawn!).

When you use the Facebook Messenger app -- note, not the official Facebook app -- you can choose to message someone via text or voice calls using Wi-Fi instead of your phone signal. Here are some pros and cons for you.

Pro: You work in a building built to withstand the apocolypse and get no cell signal but have Wi-Fi, you can still make a call to someone.
Con:  VoIP involves using data if you don't have a Wi-Fi connection.  Unless you've got unlimited data, it could rack up charges.
Pro: You could call anyone you're friends with on FB.
Con: Not really a con, but if you didn't have their number before, is it really that hard to ask for it?
Con: Could be considered creepy by the chick you're trying to ask out on a date but has been deflecting you for awhile now.

In any case, we'll add this as a chapter of "Superfluous Facebook Apps"...right next to the original Messenger app and the Facebook Camera app.
