The Cars Greatest Hits is being reissued on a limited edition 180 gram vinyl pressing. It comes with a gatefold sleeve and the original artwork, and as far as greatest hits go, this is an outstanding collection. If you’re a vinyl aficionado, you could do much worse.

On Blu Ray and DVD, Jackson Browne’s  I’ll Do Anything, which was filmed last year during his tour. There’s... uh... seventeen tracks of Jackson Browne goodness. If that’s your bag, go grab it.

I haven’t talked about video games on the show in a few weeks and that’s because there really haven’t been any notable releases recently. There’s a reason for that. Microsoft and Sony are both putting out new systems this Fall. Sony will launch the PS4, Microsoft the Xbox One (Warning: link autoplays a video). We’ve known about both systems for more than a month, but last week was E3, which ...

ZZ Top has a box set out today, The Complete Studio Albums 1970-1990, a ten disc set that contains... the complete studio albums released between 1970 and 1990. That’s a very descriptive title.

On Blu Ray for the first time,  Rockshow, Paul McCartney’s concert film from the Paul McCartney and Wings tour in 1975 and 76’ It is fully restored from the original 35mm film and will include a 5.1 surround sound mix.

Oz, The Great and Powerful lands on Blu Ray today too. This is the recently released Disney prequel to The Wizard of Oz. I want to point out that usually if you buy a 3D version of a Blu Ray you get the 2D version as well. That’s not the case here. In a more or less unprecedented move, Disney will sell the 2D version completely separately from the 3D version, and they’re not lowering the price ...

We are right in the middle of Rolling Stones MAYnia - and by the way, listen for Twofers of the Stones during the morning 97@9 for your chance to win tickets to see the Stones - but you can get your hands on something pretty cool starting next week. ABKCO records will re-release three Rolling Stones albums on clear vinyl. Beggars Banquet, Let It Bleed and Hot Rocks 1964-1971. The rumor is more clear vinyl reissues are on the way.

Tech toy of the week this week is a video game. In fact, it’s a game you’ve heard of, a game you’ve probably played before, it’s Madden Football. It’s not out yet, of course, but this year’s edition has a really cool bonus. Madden won’t be called Madden 14, it’s going to be called Madden 25, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the game.

The $100 special edition of Madden ...

Deep Purple has a new album out. Wait, what? No, it’s called Now What?! I’m shocked too. Eight years since the release of Rapture Of The Deep they’re back with an album of entirely new recordings. If that’s your thing, it’s right here for ya.

On Blu Ray and DVD: Cloud Atlas, the Tom Hanks/Halle Berry/Susan Sarandon/Hugh Grant mega mega epic the movie weaves six stories into one film that range from the early 19th century to a future sci fi dystopia. If that sounds like the kind of thing that would be long and possibly confusing, well, it’s a two hour and fifty two minute long movie. I can’t speak for the confusing part, but the thing needed three directors. Most reviews either love it or hate it, up to you to decide if it’s worth three hours to figure which side you fall on.

Tech toy of the ...

Some weeks, I get to tell you about new music from legendary bands, other weeks, I get to tell you about remastered albums and box sets, and never before released live bootlegs from legendary bands, and this week I get to tell you about new Music from Joe Satriani. Satriani’s latest is out, it’s called Unstoppable Momentum, which is the most Joe Satriani sounding album title ever. If you like Joe Satriani and can find your way to a place that sells music, you can buy it today.

Two Blu Ray releases of note today. The first is Jack Reacher, which is not a porno, despite my initial assumption, rather, this is a Tom Cruise movie where he plays an action hero, which I realize describes about 20 films, but anyway Jack Reacher is based on a book by author Lee Child, and Reacher, true to his name, is a ...

A big day for dorks as Star Trek The Next Generation Season 3 hits Blu Ray. If you’re a fan of the series you don’t need me to tell you that Season 3 is when the series really started to get good. If you haven’t heard these Blu Rays are completely remastered. Star Trek Next Generation was shot on film, but the special effects were ...

Also, Queensryche has a new album out called Frequency Unknown. Geoff Tate teams up with Rudy Sarzo and Simon Wright, this comes as the band gets ready to tour the entire Operation: Mindcrime album as that album turns 25 this year.

New album release today Abbey Load by Beatallica, if you’re not familiar with Beatallica, let’s get familiar with them quickly. They’re a mash up band from Milwaukee that combines Beatles songs with metallica songs and... somehow it kinda works.

New movie release today Quentin Tarantino's latest, the Oscar nominated, Django Unchained or “D-jango” Unchained if you’re an idiot like I was a few months back is out on Dj-blu ray and DjVDj.

One new, notable video game release today too: Injustice: Gods Among Us takes the same fighting mechanics and engine of the most recent Mortal Kombat reboot, and pairs them with characters from the DC Comics universe. If you ever wanted to know who’d win in a fight between Batman and Superman, you can find out.

And the tech toy of the week this week is a product called Airocide. Airocide sounds like the name of a 1980s arcade ...

Bob Dylan Fans get a really cool artifact today. An album called The Basement Tapes Influences is out. If you’re not familiar with The Basement Tapes, it was an album Dylan put out in 1975 of recordings he did with The Band at The Big Pink in 1967 in Woodstock, New York. The Basement Tapes are mostly covers of blues, country and folk songs. This album has the original versions of the songs that Dylan covered on The Basement Tapes.

Season two of Boss is out on BluRay today, The Kelsey Grammer drama set in Chicago that aired on Showtime. The second season happens to be the last season because the show got canned.

The Eagles have a new box set out today, The Studio Albums 1972-1979 and it contains their self titled release, Desperado, On The Border, One Of These Nights, Hotel California, and The Long Run. They're the 2005 remaster editions, but you cannot beat the price, it's going for $30 on Amazon.

Nothing too exciting on the movie front this week, but we do have one big video game release. This is a game called Defiance, it's an open world multiplayer, third person shooter where you're defending earth from invading aliens. You've played a million of them before, but this one does something very unique.

Defiance the game comes out today. Defiance the TV show premiers on the SciFi channel on April 15th and what happens on the TV show will effect what happens in the game, but if the game is popular enough, the factions and groups that do well ...
