My Top 10 Favorite Classic Rock Songs
4/9/2013 4:06:00 PM
Before reading through my list, realize that it literally took me hours to narrow this down to just ten songs. You try doing it! There are so many amazing classic rock songs out there that I literally made a list of about 40 songs and finally got it down to ten. Don’t get mad if you see that your all-time favorite song isn’t in my top ten. You can always comment on the bottom of this blog or feel free to tweet me @thelooprockgirl and we can have a nice, friendly debate. :) So without further adieu:
- Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers – American Girl.
There’s a reason why I used this song as the background music to the video I submitted when I first entered the Loop Rock Girl contest. This song is very relatable for me and I could listen to it over and over and over and over and…
- ACDC – Hells Bells.
I have always been a daddy’s girl and my dad just happened to play this song all the time when I was little, therefore it became one of my favorite songs of all time… easy as that.
- ACDC – Back in Black.
Okay, so I have a thing for ACDC, but who doesn’t?! THEY ROCK! A lot of songs remind you of certain people, or certain times in your life and this song used to be the walkout song for our high school wrestling team. No, I was not a wrestler, but I was their manager and this song has just the right tools to get you amped up!
- Lynard Skynard – Free Bird.
If you’re a true-blooded American, you like this song. I’m pretty sure it’s a crime and you can go to jail if you don’t love this song. Enough said.
- Pink Floyd – Wish you were here.
This was my high school graduation song and it became an instant favorite of mine the moment I first heard it. I’ll sing every word in this song at the top of my lungs until I’m blue in the face (and probably not in tune whatsoever).
- Journey – Don’t Stop Believin’.
This is my go-to for karaoke. Give me a few beers, let the booze hit me, and then watch me jump on stage and sing my heart out while playing a mean air guitar!
- Bon Jovi – Wanted Dead or Alive.
I grew up on a ranch, therefore sometimes I get it in my head that I’m a cowgirl (or cowboy for the sake of this song), which makes me feel like this song is the story of my life. For the record, I’ve never been a ‘wanted’ person, not as far as the government is concerned anyways.
- Cream – Sunshine of your Love.
I’m a nerd, and in high school I played the in the marching band and this was one of my favorite songs to play… Okay, you can stop making fun of me now!
- Led Zeppelin – Kashmir.
If this song doesn’t make you want to go out and conquer world, you never will.
- Aerosmith – Dream On.
This song is a great song to end my top ten with. Aerosmith is the epitome of classic rock and ‘Dream On’ is one of my favorite from them. You can’t NOT have Aerosmith in your top 10!
How do my favorite stack up to yours? As long as you love classic rock and you have interesting stories or reasons as to why you like the songs that you do, you’re okay in my book!
