Blackhawks Win The Stanley Cup!
Posted 6/27/2013 3:37:00 PM

The Chicago Blackhawks have done it again! We were able to win game 6 against the Boston Bruins in our opponent’s city and what an amazing win it was! I got to sit back and watch in the comfort of my home, but to be honest, I was hardly sitting. The first period of the game was definitely ran by the Bruins and it was a little discouraging to watch them tower over our beloved players. However, our team has a tendency to get stronger and stronger as the game moves forward and we were able to not just come back and win, but to score 2 goals in 17 seconds! I thought for sure we would be heading to another overtime game by the time we scored our second goal, so when the final score ended up being 3-2 in favor of our boys I was beyond excited. In fact, I actually jumped over my couch, ran around the house, and did a variety of ‘happy dances’!

I was called by The Loop just before the game and was told that if we won, I would be able to meet up with Zakk, one of our disk jockeys, and go welcome the Blackhawks back to Chicago at 3am when their plane landed. Zakk and I shot over to Harry Caray’s in Rosemont at 4:30am, where the Blackhawks went in 2010 after their last Stanley Cup win. There were at least 1,000 enthusiastic fans waiting for the Blackhawks to arrive and when they did, the whole crowd went crazy! I was able to capture the moment when Toews brought out the Stanley Cup from Harry Caray’s and brought it back to the bus, where they would continue to travel from place to place around the city of Chicago to celebrate their win with other fans! You can check out the video here:

Friday is the Blackhawks celebratory parade and the festivities will start at 10:30am. What an amazing way to kick off a great summer and I’m so happy to one day be able to say that I was your Chicago Loop Rock Girl the year that the Blackhawks took home their 5th Stanley Cup! GO BLACKHAWKS!
