Happy 4th of July!
7/3/2013 2:05:00 PM
I hope everyone has some great plans for the 4th of July holiday! I, personally, will be picking up my mom from Minnesota and will be spending time with her and my younger brother, who really isn’t so young, and his wife. More than likely, we’ll find ourselves having a couple beers at the Toby Keith bar and waiting for the fireworks to start!
While you’re spending time with your family, friends, and loved ones, please don’t forget what this holiday is really about. As much as it’s about enjoying the day, the work off, the parades, the fireworks, and the BBQ’s, it’s even more about why you’re able to do these things. Please keep the men and woman oversees in your thoughts, because those people aren’t spending time with their families. Those people have dedicated their lives to something much bigger than themselves and that deserves some serious recognition. Please also keep in the mind the people who have already fought for you. We have plenty of veterans amongst us, so take a moment out of your holiday vacation to reach out and say, “Thank you for your service”. As small as that might seem, it can truly mean the world to the person you’re saying it to. I will literally go out of my way to say thank you to someone in uniform in an airport, a grocery store, or anywhere else because that’s the least I can do! As a veteran, I know what it’s like to spend a holiday thousands of miles from my family. Go enjoy your 4th, have a few drinks, grill some steaks, and remember why you’re enjoying the freedoms that you do!
