Is it just me or has anyone else noticed how fast the time has flown by this year, especially these last couple months? I feel like I blinked and missed Thanksgiving, and I celebrated it twice! If you're a bargain shopper and decided to go Black Friday shopping, hopefully you didn't get trampled on too badly during those Black Friday stampedes (I don't know if any of you have seen the Black Friday YouTube videos or not, but it was pretty horrifying)! I personally spent my Black Friday signing my 2014 Loop Rock Girl calendar posters for Hawthorne Race Course and the event turned out great! I successfully left the race course with a hand cramp from signing so many calendars, so that's always a good sign! ;)
Now that Thanksgiving is over, it's about that time to go gift shopping for friends and family! I always find that a ...
2014 Calendar Shooting Is Done!
11/7/2013 11:22:00 AM
I'm so excited to be The Loop Rock Girl again for the upcoming year. We'll make sure 2014 is just as incredible, if not more, than 2013! Thanks again for making my first year with The Loop such an amazing experience.
I have great news! We have officially finished shooting for the 2014 Loop Rock Girl calendar. The best part about this calendar is that this year we are starting the calendar off with Decemeber. That's right! Instead of the calendar starting with the month of January, we decided to begin it a month earlier!
I've been all over Chicago shooting for this calendar. I've done photoshoots at Pat Capone's place (which is beautiful by the way), Hawthorne Race Course, the House of Blues, and even Navy Pier! The photographers, hair and makeup stylists, graphic designers, and everyone else involved in making this calendar possible are top notch! I know ...
One Rockin' Year As The Loop Rock Girl!
9/26/2013 2:36:00 PM
As many of you already know, The Loop has asked me to be your permanent Loop Rock Girl! I'm still in shock over that recent decision. It is such an honor to represent the best classic rock radio station in Chicago! I say on Twitter and other social media that I have the best job in the whole world and I say it because it's 100% true, I really do. I have all of you Loyal Loopers to thank for that! If it wasn't for all of you loving rock and roll the way you do, we wouldn't have this station, and without this station, I wouldn't have the job that I do, so I really can't begin to thank you enough!
One year ago I was stressing out about what I was going to do and say in my 2-minute submission video for the 2013 Loop Rock Girl search. ...
Rock Band Facts!
9/10/2013 2:24:00 PM
I'm one of those people who genuinely looks forward to opening up a bottle of Snapple simply to see the random facts that they put onto the other side of the bottle cap. Yes, I know, I'm a nerd. For some reason I'm really good at remembering useless facts, like the fact that there are 293 ways to make change for a dollar. Maybe someday this meaningless knowledge will be useful if I ever get accepted onto the show 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire' but since I don't see that happening any time soon I've decided that it would be much more fun to learn random facts about rock bands instead!
If you follow me on twitter @TheLoopRockGirl I will now be posting a few random rock band facts a week under the hashtag #RockBandFact! If you have a twitter account you can check them out there and feel ...
School’s Back In Session!
8/22/2013 3:40:00 PM
It’s about that time of year again for school to start! A lot of schools are starting back up around mid-August to the beginning of September. If you listen to the morning show with Maxwell you already know that I was kind of a nerd in high school. Okay, I was a big nerd! I got straight A’s and graduated 6th in my class, but there were only around 70 of us. Getting good grades never came easy for me though. I was never one of those students that just listened to what the teacher said in class and then aced the exams; my attention span goes out the window after hearing a teacher talk for over 30 minutes, especially when my friends sat right next to me. I was the kind of student that had to go home with the text book, read it over twice, highlight the important ...
Eventful Weekends Are The Best Weekends!
7/29/2013 3:49:00 PM
This past weekend was full of Loop Rock Girl fun! I started off the weekend early because Thursday night was The Loop’s second fundraiser for our 2005 Loop Rock Girl, Erica. Five former Loop Rock Girls and I went to Blarney Island and partied hardy while raising money to help Erica as she is currently battling with Chronic Lyme Disease. I want to personally thank all of you that have been donating and have been to one or both of the two benefits that we have done for her! Your support means the world to her and everyone at The Loop sincerely appreciates it too!
Friday I was able to head over to Glenview to the Chicago Harley Davidson dealership to hold a fun radio station event. Everyone at Chicago Harley was great and as soon as I walked in they gave me a grand tour of the store, including ...
Summertime In Chicago!
7/16/2013 3:28:00 PM
This summer really seems to be flying by! I feel like just yesterday I won the title of Loop Rock Girl and today it’s mid-July! It’s so important to be able to enjoy what you have while you can, so enjoy your summer by taking in some sun, appreciating the warm nights out with a cold beer or chipotle pineapple margarita (I just had one last night and it was amazing), and spending quality time with friends and family. City life can get a little fast-paced and overwhelming so remind yourself once in a while to just slow down, relax, and have fun!
So far this summer has been treating me great! I’ve gone to plenty of places I didn’t even know existed thanks to The Loop. I tapped my first keg at a German restaurant called Hofbrauhaus in Rosemont, I’ve announced the band Foghat onto stage at Porky’s Rib ...
Happy 4th of July!
7/3/2013 2:05:00 PM
I hope everyone has some great plans for the 4th of July holiday! I, personally, will be picking up my mom from Minnesota and will be spending time with her and my younger brother, who really isn’t so young, and his wife. More than likely, we’ll find ourselves having a couple beers at the Toby Keith bar and waiting for the fireworks to start!
While you’re spending time with your family, friends, and loved ones, please don’t forget what this holiday is really about. As much as it’s about enjoying the day, the work off, the parades, the fireworks, and the BBQ’s, it’s even more about why you’re able to do these things. Please keep the men and woman oversees in your thoughts, because those people aren’t spending time with their families. Those people have dedicated their lives to something much bigger than themselves and that deserves some serious recognition. ...
Blackhawks Win The Stanley Cup!
6/27/2013 3:37:00 PM
The Chicago Blackhawks have done it again! We were able to win game 6 against the Boston Bruins in our opponent’s city and what an amazing win it was! I got to sit back and watch in the comfort of my home, but to be honest, I was hardly sitting. The first period of the game was definitely ran by the Bruins and it was a little discouraging to watch them tower over our beloved players. However, our team has a tendency to get stronger and stronger as the game moves forward and we were able to not just come back and win, but to score 2 goals in 17 seconds! I thought for sure we would be heading to another overtime game by the time we scored our second goal, so when the final score ended up being 3-2 in favor of our boys I was beyond excited. In ...
Fundraiser For Former Rock Girl, Erica
6/6/2013 2:49:00 PM
Every once in a while you get an opportunity to support a great cause. I applaud all of you who have taken your time to volunteer, make donations to charities that you believe in, or even create your own! A little less than a month ago, The Loop got word that Erica, our 2005 Loop Rock Girl, had been hospitalized. The doctors say that she has chronic Lyme disease. If you know about chronic Lyme disease, you know how truly painful it can be and how long it takes to fully recover. Erica has been hospitalized for quite some time now, and with all the medications and care in the hospital, it can become very stressful on a family and on their wallet. However, Erica has much more than just her immediate family; she also has her band of sisters – the Rock Girls from The Loop! Together, we’ve come ...
