Before they were mega rock stars with cool swanky mansions and high performance sports cars, most rockers grow up in small suburban neighborhoods in tiny old houses just like the rest of us, and Ronnie James Dio was no different. Now you can own a piece of his history – The house he grew up in.
Ronnie may have been born in Portsmouth New Hampshire, but he soon moved to Cortland, New York at a very early age. It was in this small old wood frame house in Cortland that Ronnie learned to play the trumpet, French horn, and bass guitar. Yes, this is the house with the garage that all of his early songs were written in, where he partied with his friends and learned to play in a band. Let’s face it, it’s a cool piece of rock and roll memorabilia and it’s up for auction.
Here is the link to the Ronnie James Dio’s Childhood Home Auction:
From the sellers: “We bought the house from Ronnie about 3.5 years ago and have enjoyed living there but it is too small for our growing family. I am listing it on EBay in the hopes that a TRUE Dio fan can get this house and enjoy owning a piece or heavy metal history.”
According to the owners, DIO told them that he had buried a trunk behind the garage and they have never dug it up. Somebody should call Geraldo Rivera.
So, with a starting bid of only $90,000, you not only get a cool house, a mystery buried trunk, and the garage Dio practiced in… it’s also located on the corner of “DIO WAY”. Yes Way! And that is pretty f’n cool.
