Def Leppard’s Las Vegas Residency
Posted 11/14/2012 10:10:00 AM

It’s finally time to pull out that old British flag tank top that you purchased 35 years ago from the Merry Go Round store in the mall.

It seems like it was only a couple of weeks ago when I wrote the foreboding line “You know your getting old when the bands you grew up listening too end up with a Las Vegas residency”. Well, if that bit of reality didn’t smack you in the face like a drunk lesbian at the Lilith Fair, especially when you heard Motley Crue was doing the Vegas thing, get ready for Viva Hysteria!

Def Leppard is the latest act to jump aboard the Hard Rock Hotel Vegas residency game plan. The band that has been desperately asking you to poor the damn sugar on them will rock The Joint for 9 shows starting March 22 through April 10, 2013.

“We’ve never done anything like this before in our entire career so the opportunity to do something completely different like this, in such an iconic setting, is very exciting and something we just couldn’t say no to,” commented singer Joe Elliott.

The event is being called “Viva Hysteria!”, and as you might expect the Leppard boys will be performing the entire Hysteria album, along with other “greatest hits”. So, yeah, pretty much like a regular Def Leppard show except for a couple more (4) Hysteria tunes.

For those of us keeping track on the upcoming apocalypse, that makes Guns and Roses, Motley Crue, and now Def Leppard that have all done the Vegas residency gig. No word on when the Casino men plan on targeting the grunge-adults of the 90’s with a week of Weezer or Spin “the roulette wheel” Doctors.

If I look into my crystal ball, I can clearly see the Beiber in sequins and tight black leather, he’s 45 with obvious hair transplant plugs. He’s still rocking the headset microphone. Mandolay has brought him in for a years worth of shows being billed as “Beiber at the Bay”. There are a bunch of soccer moms in the crowd sucking down fancy pink drinks singing along to Runaway Love.  It’s the future.. and it’s not pretty.

Tickets go on sale this Friday 16 November at 10am (est) at Ticketmaster here.
