He might be long gone, but his music lives on. Another Jimi Hendrix posthumous album is coming our way in 2013 and they have finally upload a full version of one of the new tunes – Somewhere. You can check it out below.
Hendrix recorded this track back in 1968. It features Steven Sills on Bass and Budy Miles on drums.
The new album – People, Hell, and Angels, will contain 12 tracks of the ever popular “previously unreleased material”. These tracks were all part of a solo experimentation that found Hendrix venturing away from the safety of The Experience and into new instruments, multiple guitars, and musical ideas.
I often wonder when we get these posthumous albums – What would the artist think. Would Hendrix approve of people finishing his unfinished art? Would he be ok with the results?
I think not. You see, no artist wants people to hear unfinished product. I bet Picasso would not be ok with me going ahead and finishing up one of his unfinished paintings, no matter how good I was at painting. I’m sure it was the same with Jimi.
Now, with all that being said.. I’m a huge Hendrix fan, and as with others like me, I’m so excited to hear new material from one of my favorite guitar players. Is it cool that somebody else finished his work? Nope. Am I still glad to be able to hear it? You bet!
The new album – People, Hell, and Angles comes out March 5th.
