It's no surprise that long-time vegetarian and animal rights activist Paul McCartney would ban meat from his dressing room, but what's he got against trees?
The 12-page rider states that there would be no leather seats allowed in the limousines he traveled in, no furniture backstage made from either real or artificial animal skin, and no meat or meat by-product allowed in the dressing rooms, production offices, or anywhere backstage. The rider further requests eight plants be put in the dressing room but, "No trees, please! No tree trunks!"
The Smoking Gun does point out a few discrepancies in Sir Paul’s veggie demands, as he requests 24 bars of ivory soap; a product that most vegans know contains animal fats.
I noticed that fast food was not specifically mentioned, but McCartney has urged fans to boycott certain burger joints in the past. And I was once told by a concert promoter that, during the 1977 Wings Over America tour, Linda McCartney banned burgers from the entire arena. Nobody, not even the load-in crew was to be seen with them.
I've often wondered if it was a meat-craving, pissed off sound guy who leaked this audio of Linda's isolated microphone during a performance of Hey Jude!
