There was a lot of excitement a few months ago when Black Sabbath posted on their web site, “We are all set to record a new song in the studio today!” Now, the band has confirmed their first album with Ozzy Osbourne since 1978 will be called 13, and it’s due for release in June. No exact date yet.
Drum tracks were laid down by Rage Against The Machine drummer Brad Wilk following Bill Ward’s decision to bow out of the reunion.
Osbourne told Classic Rock Magazine last year, “Black Sabbath is very unique in the respect that nothing is formulated. It’s very unpredictable. I just hope the people who have waited all these years aren’t disappointed.”
It's hard to imagine being disappointed, especially since legendary seven-time grammy winner Rick Rubin is producing the album. The Hairy One's credits include AC/DC, Metallica, U2, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tom Petty, Adele - just to mention a very few.
Meanwhile, Black Sabbath are off to a series of pre-release concerts in New Zealand, Australia and Japan. Hang in there for US dates!
