New Clapton March 12th

Here comes Eric’s 21st studio record.  “Old Sock”, will be released on his own Bushbranch label and includes two brand new originals – “Gotta Get Over” and “Every Little”.

Not a whole lot of details have been made available, but here is what I can tell you..

Mr. Clapton has brought in some heavy weight friends to help out in the musicians department. Steve “I played with Clapton in Blind Faith” Winwood lays down some organ on “Still got the Blues”. Sir Paul McCartney throws down the low end bass guitar and helps with vocals on “All of Me”. Blues legend JJ Cale picks the guitar and lays down backing vocals on “Angel”. And legendary R&B singer Chaka “OMG Look at my hair” Khan helps out with backing vocals on “Get On Over”.

As you can see from some of the song titles, this album looks like its going to cover everything from blues to jazz, and why not, Eric is absolutely brilliant at putting his own spin on a classic covers.

Following the albums release, Eric Clapton will head out on the road hitting US arenas, starting with the U.S. Airways Center in Phoenix, Arizona on March 14th and ending with the incredible Crossroads Guitar Festival at Madison Square Garden. Unfortunately, no Chicago dates made the tour. Looks like you and I will have to make a road trip to catch this tour. Maybe Nashville on 22nd, or Madison Square Garden. You pick. I’m easy.

Old Sock has been given the tentative release date of March 12th.

In the meantime, pick up the deluxe anniversary release of Slowhand. It’s Killer.
