Queen has again teamed up with Angry Birds for Freddie For A Day 2013, the annual fundraising event that celebrates Freddie Mercury’s birthday (September 5) by encouraging fans to dress like the Queen singer while raising money for The Mercury Phoenix Trust charity, which is spent fighting HIV/AIDS worldwide.

Rovio Entertainment is running a Freddie For A Day tournament on Angry Birds Friends, available to play on Facebook or mobile between now through September 8th.

“Freddie Bird” makes a special appearance in the game, but not as a playable character. The tournament has a Freddie Mercury theme, with references to iconic Queen songs shown in the level designs.

The Mercury Phoenix Trust was founded in 1992 by Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor and Queen manager Jim Beach to help distribute money raised from the 1992 Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert for AIDS awareness. Since then, the Trust has raised over $15 million to help in the fight against AIDS worldwide.

September 5, 2013 would have been Freddie’s 67th birthday.
