Rockin’ Out And Giving Back!

Between the Miller Lite ‘Half Way to St. Patty’s’ Southside Trolley Tour, a charity bike ride, and hanging with the fans at Chicagoland Speedway, it was an awesome weekend! I can hardly believe how many amazing opportunities and experiences Rock Girl has brought me! Over the next few weeks we will be choosing our top girls to compete for the next Rock Girl title. So Loopers, be on the look out and get ready to vote. You Loopers chose me, and it was the experience of a lifetime! I have to start out by saying Happy Father’s Day to all the Fathers, Grandfathers, and Fathers-to-be out there! I am very close with my Dad and Grandpa, and I just want to say thank you to them for all the love, guidance, and support. Throughout my softball career, rain (well…in Michigan, more like snow) or shine, my Dad never missed a game; and my grandpa is STILL bragging to his buddies about me. Fathers are so important, and I am very lucky to have such great ones in my life! The summer has only just begun, and already it has been incredible! Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there! We definitely do not need a specific day to recognize how important you all are in our lives; you are all appreciated and loved everyday! My mom always is there for me no matter what and supports our family through anything. I am so very blessed to have her in my life and hope I can be as amazing to a family of my own one day. Hello From Beantown!

The past few days I have spent hanging out with one of my college best friends, Meghan. She lives in Maine, so our journey started there. We spent a lot of time exploring the beaches and enjoying great food! The air there is so fresh, and escaping the hustle and bustle from the city was a nice retreat. My soul feels refreshed! After a fairly dramatic race (literally running) to catch the train, we successfully made it to Boston. Here we checked out the waterfront and Faneiul Hall Market Place. The cobble stone here is so historic and awesome, but difficult terrain to walk on...especially after a few cocktails! We ended up in a tequila bar to watch our White Sox take on the Red Sox. For those who made it out Friday morning to Cork N Kerry or listened in to the Live Broadcast with Pete and Jane, know how much fun we had there! To gear up for the big Sox home opener we gathered bright and early. And I mean BRIGHT and EARLY…We were there an hour before they could even start serving beer….who even knew there was a rule about that?!?! We played tons of games and gave away lots of great prizes. There was a scavenger hunt for Hawks tickets, trivia for Aerosmith tickets, and Bozo buckets for Def Leppard and more! We even had a couple post Sox players, Ron Kittle and Carlos May stop by to give us their opening day stories as players. Sox got off to a great start to the season and beat the Tigers 5-2! Recovered and Ready for Baseball!

St. Patrick’s Day weekend was definitely too much fun! So much fun, that it took a good few days to recover, so that’s a great weekend! The parade downtown on the Loop Float was a huge hit. Capone, Byrd, Walt, and I, along with our Loop Street Team, handed out so many St.Patty’s goodies to the hundreds of cheering fans. After the parade I got to enjoy the rest of the day bar hopping with all my close friends, and it was a night to remember! Don’t forget to check out all the pictures! Now that I am fully recovered I am gearing up for baseball season! I cannot wait to take in soooo many Sox and Cubs games in the beautiful Chicago weather! Who is excited as me for St. Patrick’s Festivities? It is an excuse to dress up over-the-top silly, drink green beer, and get into all the fun parades and bar crawls around town. This past weekend The Loop along with Cricket Wireless combined to make a really sweet float! All the people in the streets jammed to our classic rock tunes, and the kids went crazy for the beads and stickers. Featured on our float is a HUGE cell phone with our new application “Loop Live” on it. With Loop Live, you will never miss out on a thing; it's a free one stop shop concert app. Our float was in the Elmhurst and Northwest Irish Parade this past weekend and will be in the Downtown Chicago Parade this Saturday from noon-2PM! Experiencing Van Halen live for the first time Friday night at the United Center was so much fun! The place was sold out, the crowd was amped, and the music was rockin. David Lee Roth is known for his quirky dance moves on stage, and he definitely didn’t disappoint. If you follow me on twitter, @thelooprockgirl, you would have seen my play by play counting of his famous high kicks through out the show. There was even an over/under bet placed on how many he would give us throughout the show. I took the over on 24, and he did 25! I won! My favorite part about the night was obviously dancing to Beautiful Girls, but also listening to Eddie Van Halen’s electrifying guitar solo. He and his son, Wolfgang, had some pretty awesome duo segments together as well. Afterwards I headed to CrossRoads Bar for the official after party. ...

The original band, featuring David Lee Roth on vocals with the Van Halen Boys, is back together and Chicago is one of their first stops on their 2012 tour! We are all looking forward to the massive Loop pre and post party for the Van Halen concert Friday night. The Loop will be throwing the party at The Crossroads Bar and Grille. Bikinis & Birthdays!

In my everyday life, I really like to try crazy new things, but golfing outside in the middle of winter in a bikini definitely wasn’t on my list. I’ll try (almost) anything once, so I grabbed my bikini and boots and headed Saturday night out to “Suits and Boots” at TopGolf. The place was packed, tons of fishbowl cocktails, music, awesome prizes, a goofy photo booth, and a crazy dance party! I had sooooo much fun even though we all froze our asses off! (Tequila definitely helped me with that) Pete and I met so many awesome people and the event was a huge success for the chosen charity. I even did the limbo, wiped out in one of the final rounds, have the bruise on my knee to prove it! I definitely do not want to miss this event next year; and trust me, mark it on your calendars ...
