It’s all coming to an end! The Bud Light Sweet
16 Tour was my last event this past Saturday at The Central
in Chicago with the last of the Loop Rock Girl Sweet 16 finalists!
We had a great time! I thought it would be easy to find a
new Loop Rock Girl, but it’s harder than I thought!
All of the girls are so amazing and have so many great qualities!
I can’t put my finger on which one I like best!
You have to come out and pick your favorite girl this Saturday
at The Loop Rock Girl Finals at Austin’s Saloon in Libertyville!
I’ll eventually have to make a decision though because
I’m going to be one of the judges!
Joining me as judges at The Loop Rock Girl Finals are Rob
Elgas, co-anchor of The Morning News on NBC5 as well as Vince
Neil, front man of Motley Crue! Are you kidding me!? Vince
Neil is probably the best judge on who Chicago’s Loop
Rock Girl should be! He’s been around the world with
all kinds of beautiful women; I’ll take his advice any
day on a good rock girl! I couldn’t think of a better
way to end my year with The Loop but with Vince Neil of Motley
Crue!
I’m honored to be a part of the history of Chicago’s
greatest rock station, The Loop.; especially this year, when
The Loop celebrated their 30th anniversary. I will definitely
remember my time with The Loop as the greatest experience
of my life so far! Thank you Chicago for a great year and
the experience of a life time!

I’m won over! I’ve been to many boxing matches
and I used to cringe and look away. But this past week, I
couldn’t get enough! I was at Chicago’s 6th Annual
Battle of the Badges boxing match where the Chicago Police
Department took on the Chicago Fire Department for charity.
Once the fights began, I was lucky enough to be sitting ringside
next to the announcer for all the bouts! You know that at
any sporting event, front row is the place to be! I was so
intrigued the entire night. I guess it’s hard not to
be when you’re sitting next to the ring. You can see
so much, even the spray of sweat that explodes from a solid
head shot. I’m hooked for life!

Also this past weekend, it was the second stop of
the Bud Light Sweet 16 Tour. I got to meet a few more qualifiers
that have made it to The Loop Rock Girl Sweet Sixteen. I can’t
believe how incredible each girl is! You have to see them
to believe it! Hot! This Saturday, it’s the final stop
of the Sweet 16 Tour at The Central, 3446 North Clark in Chicago
from 9-11pm. Trust me….you don’t want to miss
this! We have more hot girls stopping by plus you can win
Northside baseball tickets. Voting for the Rock Girl Search
ends this week, but you can check out ALL of the girls at
The Loop Rock Girl Finals on Saturday, May 3rd at Austin’s
Saloon in Libertyville. Why not? It’s free and it’s
gonna be fun!

How sweet The 2008 Loop Rock Girl Sweet 16 are!
This past weekend I got to witness some of the Sweet 16 girls
in action at the first installment of the Bud Light Loop Rock
Girl Sweet 16 Tour at Rebel Bar and Grill in Chicago…what
a wild night! Every girl has their very own special sweetness
that makes this year’s Sweet 16 unbelievable! To pass
the time between Bud Lights, we played the game “Would
You Rather?” It’s a favorite game among drunken
friends of mine. The rules are easy; there are two life scenarios
you must choose between, meaning, which scenario would you
rather do? For example, one of the questions given to us was,
“would you rather wear no makeup for a week…or….would
you rather have your makeup put on by a blind man?”
Fun question maybe…but we felt like spicing up the night
by changing the questions to something a little more like,
“would you rather spend the night with Jon Bon Jovi…or…spend
the night with Bret Michaels!?!” That got the night
really rockin’! Be sure to catch even more of The Loop
Rock Girl Sweet 16 girls this Saturday, April 19th! You’ve
never tasted spicy till you’ve had a night with the
2008 Loop Rock Girl Sweet 16! HOTTTT!!! The great thing is
that you get to choose who is in the Sweet 16 just by voting!
YOU can keep your favorite girls in the competition! Vote
every weekday at 4pm, 5pm and 6pm by calling or voting online!
Plus, if you vote online, listen for the Rock Girl Roadie
code at the top of the hour for your chance to become the
Rock Girl Roadie where you’ll hang out with the 2008
Loop Rock Girl all year long! Attend Loop concerts, do stage
intros, attend all of the photo shoots….amazing gig!
Finally, be sure to check out all the Sweet 16 girls as they
compete to win the coveted title of the 2008 $50,000 Loop
Rock Girl at The Rock Girl Finals happening May 3rd at Austin’s
Saloon in Libertyville! You gotta come to see who wins this!
It’s going to be hot!

When I won the Loop Rock Girl contest back in 2007
I knew there would be a lot of crazy and exciting things coming
my way, but little did I know that when your working with
Johnny B you better be prepared to see it all! Now I’ve
seen it all, and I’ll never forget it! I was at Hawthorne
Race Course last Friday with most of the 2008 Loop Rock Girl
semi-finalists and yeah you guessed it, Johnny B joined us
and made a grand entrance! You couldn’t recognize him
at first as he rode in dressed like a jockey on a camel! Yes
I said camel! (An animal you certainly don’t see anywhere
around Chicago outside of the Lincoln Park Zoo!)
Johnny was all decked out and he was looking for a race, so
he took his camel and matched up against all the Loop Rock
Girl hopefuls out on Hawthorne’s actual race track!
Ha! No joke! I didn’t believe it at first but it’s
true!!! Just about the funniest thing I’ve seen live
was Johnny clenching to that camel as they darted down the
track! It is something that I will never forget! There’s
even a video of it! Check it out here!
Look out! This Saturday April 12th from 9 to 11pm I’ll
be at 3462 N. Clark in Chicago at a bar called Rebel with
the first round of girls who have qualified for the Rock Girl
Sweet 16! I don’t think you want to miss this one! You
may be meeting the new 2008 Loop Rock Girl! You never know!
I’ll let you know how it went next week!
4-2-08
Rise and shine! It was an early morning last week
at Einstein Brothers Bagels in the heart of Chicago! I was
there with free food and tons of prizes! There were a handful
of people who won free Einstein Brothers Bagels lunch for
an entire year! No kidding! The promotion was great and getting
there was fun too! I took the El, since I know traffic into
downtown Chicago that morning would be horrific. I don’t
mind riding the El unless it’s the after-work rush hour…then
it’s like sardines stuffed in a tin can! No thanks,
I’ll walk! So that morning on the El there was a guy
wearing a Loop shirt. He spotted me right away! How funny
to run into a Looper on the El wearing a Loop shirt! Unfortunately
he was on his way to work and not on his way to the promotion,
but he sure made the ride a lot more cheerful! Sweet! He said
he’s been listening to the station since 1979 when the
first Loop Rock Girl, Lorelei, was around! I wonder what she’s
doing now?!?

I couldn’t be more excited this week; I’ll be
at the Chicago Fire Home Opener! I love love love soccer!
I’ll be there sitting in our special section where tickets
were only $9.79! Can’t wait to see you there!
Also this week, The Loop Rock Girl Search continues! Voting
for the Top 64 girls begins this Friday! Voting happens every
weekday for 15 minutes beginning on April 4th at 4pm, 5pm,
and 6pm. To celebrate, Eddie Webb will be broadcasting his
show LIVE with the top 64 girls at Hawthorne Race Course in
Cicero! It's your only chance to bet on horses, win cash and
drink beer surrounded by 64 hotties! And don't miss the first-ever
Loop Rock Girl Relay Race! Don’t forget to vote for
your favorite girl! Come by Hawthorne and check them out!

WOW, this past week was definitely a week to remember! It
was the last week of the Loop Rock Girl Casting Calls and
it sure went out with a bang! We were at Papa T's in Midlothian
on Thursday night, Reggie's Music Joint in Chicago on Friday
night and Sideouts in Island Lake was our last night and Sideouts
was packed! I mean packed!!!! You couldn’t get through
the crowd without running into someone every step, and not
to mention there were tons of potential Rock Girl’s
all over the place! I loved it! Hot, hot, hot! I mean these
girls are unbelievable! It’s going to be hard to pick
just one at the end of the search!

I thought my last days at The Loop were going to be sad but
I’m having so much fun meeting all the new contestants!
You’ll get your chance to start voting on them next
Friday April 4th so get ready now!
Back to this week though, on Friday I’ll be at Einstein’s
Brothers Bagels in downtown Chicago located at 30 North LaSalle
from 9am until 11am. Make sure to stop by and see me if your
in the area! Everyone that comes by has a chance to spin the
Einstein prize wheel and you could possibly win free Einstein
Brothers sandwiches for an entire year! How awesome is that?
Do I get a spin!?! I hope to see you there!
3-19-08
Oh sweet hotness! The Loop Rock Girl casting calls were up
and running all last weekend! This time, there were a few
interesting girls giving the Rock Girl gig a shot! One contestant
from this seasons’ “The Bachelor” tried
out! And the show premiered this week! Of course I watched
it! She didn’t make it to the next round of the show
but she definitely was the scandalous action of the night
with all kinds of personality! Another smoking girl that tried
out this weekend was from this seasons’ “Beauty
and the Geek”!

There is always something interesting going on at The Loop
Rock Girl casting calls. And, don’t forget that this
weekend is the last weekend of casting calls! There are only
three more left! This really is your last chance to enter!
Keep in mind that it really is super casual and easy to enter!
Just look your best and come with an idea of why you should
be the next Loop Rock Girl. And that’s it! Honestly!
You have nothing to lose and the greatest opportunity to gain!
Thursday, March 20th we’ll be at Papa T’s in Midlothian;
Friday, March 21st we’ll be at Reggie’s Bar and
Grill in Chicago; and Saturday, March 22nd we’ll be
at Sideouts in Island Lake. Come by and check them out! Don’t
regret an opportunity like this one! See you there!
3-11-08
Oh my goodness! The Loop Rock Girl casting calls...are
you serious?!?! Smokin' hot! This past weekend The 2008 Loop
Rock Girl Search kicked off with two open casting calls! I
was trying to talk with some listeners at the casting call
and was so distracted. The whole time, I was looking over
my shoulder, and thought that I was going to get in trouble
for starring! These girls are hot! And this weekend, it continues!
Four more casting calls are happening Thursday, Friday, Saturday
and Sunday. Check out the locations here http://www.wlup.com/check_it_out/rockgirl2008.aspx
. As The Loop Rock Girl, I’ve had the best year of my
life! Be sure to come out this weekend and give it a shot!
Also this past week, I was asked to speak about the radio
industry and the sexual assault counseling I do at an after
school program for kids called “Off The Street”
club. It's a program designed to teach kids about and how
to play music. Excited to speak to the kids, I did have a
moment of nerve-wracking insanity. I’ve spoken in front
of thousands of people before...but never kids! Honest, impressionable,
kids can be the toughest crowd! But, it couldn’t have
gone better! To welcome me, they gave me flowers and a double
cheeseburger from McDonald’s! How sweet! Since they’re
learning to play music, they also played a song for me on
the instruments they have been learning and they sounded great!
Overall, it a great time and the kids were really into it.
Hopefully, I planted some inspiration and excitement about
the radio industry!

Then Sunday came around and it was time for the South Side
Irish Parade! And lucky me, I got to march in it! I marched
with an organization called Misericordia. They are a group
of amazing people who provide housing and assistance to over
500 people with disabilities www.misricordia.com.
After the march, I warmed up next to a nice shot of Irish
Whisky, and another one, and another one...
This weekend I’ll be out at The Loop Rock Girl casting
calls! Don’t miss out…we only have seven casting
calls left! I’ll let you know next week how they go…but
hopefully I’ll see you there!

I can’t believe it has been almost a year!
I can remember the 2007 Loop Rock Girl casting call like it
was yesterday! I was one of the last girls at the last casting
call and I remember being pretty nervous. I had no idea what
to expect! When I showed up though I saw there was not much
to be nervous about. It was pretty easy going and a lot of
fun! Everyone from The Loop was so cool and so relaxed; they
were all about having a good time! From there, I made it to
the final 64 girls and then to the Sweet 16! Before I knew
it, it was the night of the final competition at 115 Bourbon
Street! Getting there was a challenge and I almost missed
the entire show! I was driving to Merrionette Park making
great time when I had to stop at some train tracks…it
was a freight train! So usually you know when you see a freight
train it’s like a 10 or 15 minute wait. Not this one!
At least 45 minutes go by and there’s no end in sight!
It wasn’t that the train was super long but it would
actually stop and reverse over and over! I bet one of the
other Sweet 16 finalists knew the conductor! So I finally
got to the competition late, but at least I got there! The
night went by fast! And before I knew it I won $50,000 and
the greatest job I could ever dream of!
This year, I’ve done it all; interviewed rock stars,
been on the radio and the website, had my own poster and calendar….the
list goes on and on! I’m sad to say goodbye to my position
of being the Loop Rock Girl, but now the search begins for
the 2008 Loop Rock Girl!
Nine casting calls await your arrival! Check out all the details
at http://www.wlup.com/check_it_out/rockgirl2008.aspx.
Find a casting call near you. This weekend the casting calls
kick off at Chicago Ridge Mall from 12-4pm on Saturday, then
Stratford Square Mall on Sunday from 12-4pm. I’ll be
there too! I’ll let you know how the first weekend goes!
2-27-08
This past weekend, I was back at the Lombard Fire Department
bowling tournament…and a much rougher group than last
week! I bet it was really the same guys there but they stayed
at the bowling alley drinking all week and never left! Ha!
I’m happy to say no one got me to bowl…it was
close, but I avoided the humility of my famous gutter ball!
Bowling isn’t so bad I guess…it seems more like
fun and drinking with friends than actually bowling.

There were some very special guests there from New York.
It was some of the survivors from truck 308 serving at the
scene of 9/11. What an honor for them to be at this event.
They were truly great men and told stories of the devastation
they were forced to bestow. It was a day that changed America
and I’m truly honored to have met them.
On a separate note, the time has come for the search for
the 2008 $50,000 Loop Rock Girl! This year, we’ll have
9 casting calls! As the Rock Girl, there is so much you get
to do; interview rock stars, be heard on The Loop and host
of wlup.com, all access to The Loop events and concerts, plus
your very own photo shoot, calendar and poster! Be sure to
check wlup.com for the casting call that is nearest you and
get all the details!
for the casting call nearest you!

I almost came home with a black eye on Saturday night!
And it wasn't at the Schaumburg Boat Show; that went smoothly.
After the Schaumburg Boat Show on Saturday night was when
things got interesting. I was asked to guest bartend for a
charity event Saturday night at which all tips went towards
the foundation. I've bartended before and actually love doing
it! Getting paid to hang out, right? (I make the best shot
of Jameson around ;) So I go to the charity event and it turns
out I was not welcomed by one of the bartenders! Apparently
one of the regular female bartenders wasn't told I was showing
up to take her place for a couple hours...oops! She was pissed!
The only words she spoke to me the whole night was basically
to get out of her %$#*'n way! Feeling like a jerk, I still
had a great night and kept responsibility to my obligations
for the charity, of course!!! Good cause, positive thinking!
I wasn't taking her rent money home with me! I do get it though...but
take your anger out on the right people! I was actually told
she trains in jut jujitsu! We should've just stepped outside
to settle it! Who am I kidding?!? I'd totally come home with
a black eye and a broken arm!

Also this weekend I was at the Lombard Fire Department
Charity Bowling Tournament. Three hundred firefighters at
a bowling alley? You don't see that on any normal day. They
came together this month from all over Chicagoland like the
family they are, to raise money for burn victims. Interesting
though, some thought they were getting me out on the lanes...ha!
The only thing I’m worse at than bowling is...ha, bowling!
Gutter queen! True story; I used to work with low functioning
adults for the Morton Grove Park District. My job was to help
them be as successful as they could at bowling. They ended
up helping me out...
Kind of a tough week, huh? Not really! I work for Chicago's
best rock station...no complaints here!

I fell in love with a cowboy this weekend.ok, maybe
more like twenty cowboys! I was at the Professional Championship
Bullriding event at the Sears Centre this past Friday. Let me
tell you.oh gosh.they all wear tight (in the right areas) Wrangler
jeans, cowboy boots, huge belt buckles, and cowboy hats (which
they tip when you walk by)! Where's my Chicago rodeo men at!
All that southern style is giving me the itch to relocate! Warm
weather and cowboys doesn't sound bad right now (as the snow
is falling outside my office window at the Merchandise Mart).
You know what else just flat out rocks about the event? How
American it was! I love AMERICA! Yeeee ha! The National Anthem
was a huge highlight of the show, followed by a silence to recognize
all of the war veterans. Does it get any better than that?!?
Sure does! They actually said a prayer for the safety of the
bull riders. When's the last time you heard something like that
at an event! Bullriding is my new favorite sport!
This weekend I'm excited to be part of two different charity
events! I'm getting behind the bar serving drinks and raising
money for Drew, a young boy with cancer. I'll be serving drinks
beginning at 9pm at Bevi's Bar & Eatery in Naperville!
Check out all the information here www.allfordrew.com <http://www.allfordrew.com/>
. Also this Sunday, from 12-2pm, I'll be at Stardust Bowl
in Addison helping the Lombard Fire Department raise money
for charity! I'll keep you posted next week on how it all
goes!
2-5-08
The New York Giants rocked the Super Bowl! What a great game!
The entire 4th quarter I was on the edge of my seat! I thought
the Patriots had it until that last catch! Sweeet! The past
few weeks listeners were able to register to win the chance
to watch the big game with me…at my apartment! I had
a great time with Gilbert, the winner of the grand prize who
won a limo ride to and from my place for the game, along with
a full, catered, and stocked fridge of Bud beers! Doesn't
get any better than that! The guys were awesome! The entire
night was great…except for the broken blinds...thanks
to Gilbert's friend, franticly trying to catch a smoke on
the deck during a commercial break! Great food, great beer,
great game, new blinds!
And oh my goodness, are you kidding me!? The Professional
Championship Bull Riding Event is coming to Chicago! This
is an event you couldn't pay me to miss! This Friday I'll
be at the Sears Centre from 7-9pm checking it all out and
signing my 2008 Loop Rock Girl calendars! You have to come
by! I've seen bull riding all of the time on TV but in person?!?
I couldn't be more excited (I don't think I'll get to close)!
Have you ever seen a bull up close?! They are HUGE! It’s
UNREAL!!! Get your tickets for the PCB Tour at www.searscentre.com.
I’ll let you know next week how it goes!
1-29-08
Go Hawks! This past Friday, I was at the Chicago Blackhawks
game at the United Center signing copies of the 2008 Loop
Rock Girl calendar. Unfortunately, the Blackhawks didn’t
win the game, but I still had a great time! I got to shoot
the puck! Between the second and third period, they pick people
to try and land a goal on the ice for prizes! Last Friday,
it was my turn! I’ve never played hockey before and
wasn’t sure about my first time shooting to be in front
of thousands of people! They had us practice downstairs so
I was pretty confident not to completely make an ass out of
myself! One of the other shooters by my side was the drummer
from the Chicago based band Disturbed...you know their famous
song, “Down With the Sickness”? That opening drum
sequence is unbelievable! Turn that song up just enough not
to blow out your speakers and you'll get the biggest rush!

And this past weekend I was at the World of Wheels
at McCormick Place! Sweet, sweet cars! All those cars…I’m
in love! How about a ‘68 Shelby Mustang fastback, or
a ’68 black SS Convertible?!? They were all there and
I couldn’t keep my eyes off them. There were bikes too!
They were unreal! But you know what was really sweet? There
was a bike there built by Crown Custom motorcycles and owned
by my friend Michael (aka Lugnut) that had a picture of me
on the back fender! It was from a photo shoot I did about
there years ago for a poster for Biketoberfest in Daytona
Beach Florida! How sweet is that! I always get to ride on
the back! That bike won most outstanding in class! Sounds
good to me!
Superbowl Sunday!!! I can’t wait to watch the game!
Since the Bears aren’t playing, I really don’t
care much who wins…I could go either way. Don’t
you think it’s a little unfair that the Patriots represent
a whole region though? New England, what is that like five
states?!? Whatever...may the best team win! Check back with
me next week to find out just how out of hand my Superbowl
party goes!
1-22-08
This past Saturday, I was at McCormick Place for the Boat,
RV, and Outdoor show and it was almost unreal! I can’t
imagine how to fit all those boats into one room!? And how
can the floor support all that weight! There were hundreds
of huge boats lined up in every direction! Now, just if the
lake weren’t frozen we’d have a place to take
them out! Oh the bitter cold! This weekend was freezing! How
do we do it…living in Chicago with all the below zero
temperatures?!?

And did you watch the playoffs?!? I can’t believe the
Green Bay Packers game; some of those guys had their arms
exposed. It was -25 degrees outside! I’m a Chicago Bears
fan...BIG TIME…and it’s not right for me to root
for the Packers...and I didn’t. But, when they lost
to the Giants, I was actually sad for a second thinking the
Bears beat the Packers all season and if the Packers actually
went on to the Super Bowl how good would that make the Bears
look! The team moving on to the championship game was beat
by the Chicago Bears! Chumps! I watched the game at a bar
and there was a younger female Packer fan in tears...really…I
mean crying her eyes out that the Packers lost...I love die
hard fans! She rocks! It was a close game, but we’ll
see if the undefeated Patriots stay undefeated.
Where are you going to watch the big game? If you don’t
have any cool plans yet make sure to listen all week for the
cue to call in and win a chance to come down to my apartment
and watch the final game! It could be you and six of your
buddies with a stocked fridge of tasty beverages! Good luck!
Hey Blackhawks fans, I’ll be at the game this Thursday
so make sure to check it out! If you can’t make it,
be sure to look for all the details from the game in my blog
next week!

I think I’ve found my new love...AMA Arenacross
Racing! Watching it on TV is just not the same! I was at the
Sears Centre this past Friday night, watching the Bad Boys
of Racing at AMA Arenacross! I was there signing calendars
then went on the ground floor to watch, and realized how dangerous
Arenacross Racing can be! Many motocross accidents end in
paralyzation. While I was there, within twenty minuets I learned
about four different originations for the aid of paralyzed
racers. It looks like so much fun getting all that air, racing
off jumps, but one mistake can leave you changed for life...I
know I’m such a buzz kill! I witnessed a lot a brave
men race...wait, not just men...there were boys as well! I’m
not kidding! They had to be close to 12 years old! I couldn’t
believe what they were capable of! Just incredible! So all
you motocrossers out there, BE SAFE, please!
This weekend The Loop will be at the Boat, RV, and Outdoors
Show at McCormick Place in Chicago. Be sure to stop by! Especially
on Saturday…from 12-2pm I’ll be signing calendars
so come by The Loop table and get one! Also, next week on
Thursday, I’ll be at the United Center for the Chicago
Blackhawks game! Be sure to get your tickets and come by to
see me! I’ll let you know how it all goes!

Being The Loop Rock Girl has its perks! Being surrounded by
rock for a full time job got the attention of Jim Peterik,
founding member of Survivor, and Chicago’s very own
Eyes of March. Jim recently asked me to model with a new line
of guitars he’s been involved with creating. So this
past week I shot with him and his partner Cat Clausen and
had a blast! It was guitars, rock music, and body paint!!!
What a great way to spend the day! Except for one small problem…between
all of the fans and the lights sucking the electricity, we
suddenly had a blown fuse! So, an hour of the shoot was done
in candlelight! Other than that, the shoot was great!
The day was actually broken up by Jim performing a mini unplugged
concert! We rocked out to a few of his hits including Eye
of the Tiger, (made popular in the movie Rocky)! It was a
great day I’ll be sure never to forget. Also, thanks
to Terry Becker for his great art direction and photographer
Jill Paider. You can check out more of their guitars at www.catpeterikartguitars.com.
This Saturday I’ll be out during the day AND at night!
Stop by the Verizon Wireless located at 7450 Kingery Road
in Willowbrook between 12-2pm and then come out to the Sears
Centre that same night where I’ll be signing calendars
at the AMA Arenacross event! I love love love motorcycles!
I learned to ride about 3 summers ago…maybe I’ll
take one for a ride! I’ll let you know next week how
the night goes!

Happy New Year! I can’t believe it’s 2008 already!
I remember all the hype on the millennium like it was yesterday!
Now it’s 8 years past! I rang in the new year at The
Loop‘s New Years Eve Rock ’n Roll Ball at the
Hyatt O’Hare on Monday night and it was a night I will
definitely remember! With a lineup of the Smoking Popes, Marty
Casey and Lovehammers, and Everclear, it really was a Rock
n’ Roll Ball!
It was everything you could ever want in a New Year’s
Eve party; being that it was at a hotel, so you didn’t
have to drive home, a comedy club on the lower level, an awesome
rock concert in the main ballroom, and a night club on the
same floor. I couldn’t sit still! I wanted to be in
every room at the same time! Part of the night I greeted anxious
party goers as they arrived and was on site signing the 2008
Loop Rock Girl Calendar. I was also asked to introduce one
of the acts, Marty Casey and Lovehammers. There is something
about Marty Casey that makes the girls go crazy! There were
a line of girls waiting for the doors to open, then they all
rushed over to be at the front of the stage where they stayed
the whole show just to see him!
But we all know that New Year’s Eve is a time where
most people consume a few drinks! As with most New Year’s
Eve parties, there are those people who have too many drinks…I
think by 10 o’clock a majority of people at the party
had passed their “drunk” point. There was one
specific girl who was puking in the garbage in the hallway
before we had even reached the New Year count down!
Of course, as the night came to a close, you couldn’t
walk five feet with out getting bumped into by a ‘well
served’ partier! Hopefully you’ve all recovered
smoothly from your New Year’s Eve celebrations and here’s
to a great 2008!
12-19-07
This cold weather is like torture! The only good thing about
the snow is when you don’t have to be anywhere on time,
then it’s fun to drive in! Last Saturday I was at Tailgaters
in Oak Lawn for a calendar signing and I was lucky to be on
time! The snow was crashing down and people were getting stuck
everywhere. It all went great….until (I really feel
terrible doing what I did)… the band playing the venue
at the event was super excited we were there, the drummer
even signed his sticks for me; how sweet! So during their
set break I went on stage to announce our raffle winner and
that’s when I just blanked! The last thing I had to
do was ‘welcome back the awesome band….’
I had nothing! I totally blanked on the name of the band!
Who does that?! What a terrible thing to do! I felt so bad
mostly because they were really excited to have The Loop there
and I totally let them down! Lucky for me, someone in the
audience quickly shouted the name of the band. I tried to
make up for it, but there’s really nothing you can say
to make that better. Next time I’m writing the name
of the band on my hand just in case! I’m so sorry ground
control!
This week I’m so excited to be going to the Chicago
Wolves game and a Chicago Bulls game! I love this job! I’ll
let you know how it goes next week, and hopefully I won’t
have to announce any bands!

Just try and beat me in pool, I dare ya! Yes, I'm talking
about that sweet pastime seen in bars across America. That
great, classic game. I was challenged in a game of pool by
some Loyal Loopers this past Friday at Shoeless Joe's and
I couldn’t back down. The game was close and in the
end I came out on top! You’d be so proud of me! I can
be very competitive as you may have read about previously
in my blogs, so if there is anyone out there who wishes to
challenge me in a game of pool…BRING IT ON! Bring your
best game, and don’t let me embarrass you in front of
your friends! …he he he
Also, this Sunday, Ozzy’s playing the Allstate Arena
and I’m so excited! This Thursday I'll be all around
Chicago and you can find me to get tickets! This gives you
one last chance to pick up free tickets just days before the
show! I'll call into the station to tell listeners where I
am, which could be anywhere from downtown Chicago to the suburbs!
The first 15 people to show up and find me get free tickets!
And one random pair of tickets is real, real close to Ozzy…probably
close as you’d like to be to him! He bites bats! Also,
from 9-11pm on Saturday, I’ll be at Tailgaters Sports
Bar in Oak Lawn with copies of my new 2008 Loop Rock Girl
Calendar! Hopefully I'll see you there!

I had no idea what I was in for when I left for Keystone,
Colorado! I had an incredible time with the 15 lucky Loop
winners! I expected the mountains, the snow, and the cold,
but getting to Keystone was more breathtaking than I ever
imagined. Here in Chicago our visions of mountains are the
piles of snow we see in corners of parking lots after a snow
storm, or the hills of garbage in alleys the night before
pickup. Driving from Denver airport to Keystone Ski Resort
and seeing real mountains in the distance slowly creeping
up on us, I could have never imagined something so beautiful.
It was out of a fairy tale. Truly an amazing sight I will
never forget. Ok, enough of that stuff...36 hours of skiing,
bands, and partying! Unreal! It was packed like any huge festival,
or, if you’ve ever been to a bike rally, it was just
like that...people at arms length in every direction! Everyone
was all decked out in their ski gear, except for me…I
didn’t bring snow pants! I wore my jeans. I definitely
stuck out. You could tell I wasn’t a skier as I clumsily
picked up my skis and dragged them to the lifts in my jeans,
but after my ski lesson that Friday, I’m now ready to
conquer any mountain! Ok, maybe just the mountains of snow
piled in the corners of parking lots in Chicago…but
I’m ready nonetheless! Really, skiing is a lot easier
than I thought. Yes I fell, three times, but no serious breaks!
I now see why you need to wear snow pants when you ski. Falling
in your jeans will get you soaked! But that just gave me the
excuse to run in by the fire to dry off with a hot chocolate,
topped with marshmallows and whipped cream! All said, it was
a great weekend in Keystone Colorado!
This weekend I’ll be signing calendars and giving away
Johnny and the Leisuresuit tickets! Stop by Shoeless Joe’s
in Rosemont on Friday from 9-11pm for your chance to win Johnny
and the Leisuresuit tickets! The show is happening December
14th at the Rosemont Theatre. Then, on Saturday, I’ll
be at O’Donnell's in Chicago from 9-11pm giving away
autographed copies of my new 2008 Loop Rock Girl calendar.
Hope to see you there!

It was definitely a once in a life time opportunity at Hawthorne
Racecourse last Friday! Jumping out of the starting gates
at Hawthorne Race Track, by yourself, with no horse! Yes it’s
true! Myself along with a few of the Sweet 16 girls were at
Hawthorne Racecourse for “Guys Day Out” and we
ran a 50 yard foot race from the starting gate! When I arrived,
all I had was high heels! At the last minute, I was able to
borrow a pair of boots from one of the jockeys. But they were
way too big! You’d think they’d fit assuming that
jockeys are small, so they would have small feet…but
I came to find out, even though jockeys are small they still
have big feet! In the end, I came in second place which I’m
not extremely proud of, but I’m ok with for now. But,
I demand a rematch soon!
This Thursday, I leave with 15 lucky listeners for Keystone
Ski Resort in Colorado! I can’t wait! We’re heading
there for “36 hours of Keystone” where the slopes,
the music, and the party last for 36 hours straight! I’m
sure there will be plenty to tell you about when I get back!
Look for pictures from the trip next week!

Karaoke with The Loop?!?
Ok, so at first I was a little freaked out last Thursday
at Time Out West in Hanover Park where I was signing the new
2008 Loop Rock Girl Calendar when the signing suddenly turned
into a partial karaoke night. These karaoke people are pretty
serious about their stuff! And I have to say, a lot of them
are pretty good! Those that needed liquid courage to get themselves
on stage definitely made the night fun!

The calendar signing was great! I love meeting all the Loyal
Loopers who came out! It’s neat when I get to meet listeners
that have been listening for longer than I’ve been alive!
Hearing detailed stories of the history of our station from
listeners over the past months makes me so proud to have been
given the opportunity to have my position.
I’ll be out again this weekend signing calendars! Friday,
November 23rd I’ll be at Family Sports Pub in Oswego
and Saturday, November 24th I’ll be at Hard Rock Café
in Chicago! Also on Friday from 2-4pm, I’ll be at Hawthorne
Race Course in Cicero for Guys Night Out with some of the
Sweet 16 girls! I can’t wait to see them again! We’ll
take lots of pictures together and I’ll post one next
week!

It was me and three hot, hot, hot girls running
the show back stage at the Sammy Hager concert last Saturday!
Ok, we really didn’t run it, but we did run around making
sure everyone was having a good time! It was a constant party
between three extra small bikini wearing girls and I. The
four of us made sure Sammy always had a margarita, and really
anyone who wanted a drink back stage during the set! So when
I said we made sure everyone had a good time, I meant it!

Michael Anthony, formerly from Van Halen, stepped out for
a few songs with Sammy and during the show he actually stopped
to ask the bartender (yes, there was a bar on stage) for three
shots of tequila…and sure enough between the next song
he waved me and one of the extra small bikini girls over to
take a shot with him…tequila isn’t my drink of
choice, but if it’s Michael Anthony offering a shot
on stage during a set who could say no?!?
Sammy Hagar was great and very educational as well! I learned
to make a serious margarita…but more importantly how
to properly serve one perfectly chilled without spilling in
my 3 inch stilettos!
This week I’ll be out signing my new 2008 Bud Light
Loop Rock Girl Calendars! Come and grab one, and have a drink
with me too! This Thursday at Time Out West from 8-10pm in
Hanover Park! If you can’t make it Thursday, come this
Saturday to Tiger O'Stylies in Berwyn from 9-11pm…or
come to both! I’ll post some pictures next week!
11-7-07
The past week was crazy with Johnny B mania! Johnny and the
Leisuresuits performed this past Saturday at the Sundance
Saloon in Waukegan and everywhere I went someone was asking
me for extra tickets!
Last Thursday, we were at Anastasia’s in Waukegan giving
away tickets for the show! It was a good thing we had so many
to give away because I hate turning people away! Ultimately,
the show itself was amazing! The Sundance Saloon was packed
with Loyal Loopers who came from everywhere to see the Leisuresuits!
Don’t worry if you missed out; there’s still another
stop on the 2007 World Tour. Johnny and the Leisuresuits will
be playing at Rosemont Theatre on Friday, December 14th! We’ll
be hitting the streets with a few pair of last minute tickets,
but to be sure you get a seat click here! http://wlup.com/Concerts/Details.aspx?ID=8527
Also last week I stopped at more fire houses! I’ve
been to quite a few so far and you would think it would become
somewhat monotonous after awhile but there is always something
different going on at each station that makes it interesting!
This past week was definitely different. I followed the Loop
Hummer to one of the local fire stations. Instantly, all of
the firefighters were talking about how dirty my car was.
Normally my car is black but sometimes looks grey when it’s
dirty! So they insisted on cleaning my car! They have to wash
the engines every day anyway so insisted it wasn’t a
big deal at all! Lucky me! I love firefighters, how could
you not! We also stayed for lunch…and I can still say
firefighters are great cooks!
I’m excited to see Sammy Hager this Saturday! I’ll
be running around on stage during the show so make sure to
say hi when you see me walking around! Also check out how
you can go back stage and meet Sammy himself! No joke, you
get to meet him! Find all the details on how to enter at the
Check It Out section
of www.wlup.com! I’ll post a picture from the show next
week!

Hector is so crazy! Last week we drove The Loop Hummer around
surprising one lucky listener each day who won a free trip
to Keystone, Colorado as part of the Rock n’ Roll Ski
Patrol. We actually seriously surprised everyone by ambushing
their homes! Hector was so into it, like a regular James Bond
he would scope out each house reporting any activity! Since
we were surprising the winners of the trips to Keystone, without
the winners being notified ahead of time, we never knew what
to expect when we pulled up to their house! Sometimes we couldn't
find the house, sometimes the listener wasn’t home,
sometimes the wife was closing the door on us…but the
last day was my favorite! We came to the house ringing the
bell and banging the door with no answer. Finally a teenage
boy answered. Hector bombards him with information and excitement
where we quickly learned the actual contest winner was his
stepfather! The kid walked back into the house and just disappears,
leaving the front door wide open! Armed now with the correct
information of the winner Hector proceeds to walk in the house
and up a complete stranger’s stairs! What was he thinking!
What if the listener had a baseball bat or a gun?! But, of
course, we followed Hector in his crazy antics to find the
winner wasn’t there…we even checked the bedroom!
Eventually the winner called the house because he was listening
to us on the radio and everything came together. We got lucky!
Breaking and entering…maybe? You never know what to
expect from Hector…yes!

Don’t forget to check out the newspaper Real Chicago
this month. They did a special write up about The Loop Rock
Girl (me!) and I even got the cover shot! If you can’t
find the paper, check it out here! http://www.therealchicago.org/0210windycw.htm
This week I’ll be going to more fire stations and Thursday
I’ll be hosting a bar event in Waukegan giving away
Johnny B and the Leisuresuit tickets! I’ll find some
scandalous pictures to post about it next week for sure!
10-23-07
Two Van Halen Shows in Chicago, how could you miss one!? Byrd
and I were at the Van Halen show at Allstate Arena last week
where he was broadcasting his show live! It was amazing! There’s
a strong passion you can see watching Eddie Van Halen play,
and it's mesmerizing. I’ve seen a lot of guitar players
in concert and often think; this guy has to play the same
songs and riffs every show over and over, does it get old
and robotic like most jobs? And for Eddie Van Halen its been
over thirty years of the same hit songs, but watching him
it’s like the first time he's played that riff live
(you know which one I'm talking about) with all the passion
he drives into it. Now that David Lee Roth is back it’s
simply a show you can‘t miss!

This past Sunday was the Making Strides for Breast Cancer
walk, and what a beautiful day it was! I was able to raise
over two thousand dollars thanks to all that selflessly donated.
I'd like to specially thank Ryan Lange who works here at The
Loop, and Inna Pasalis for their efforts to the cause. You
guys rock!
Every sunrise this week I’ll be riding around with Hector
surprising one lucky listener who entered to win a free trip
in the Rock n’ Roll Ski Patrol trip a day give away
in Keystone, Colorado. Maybe it could be you! Thirty six hours
of music and skiing, I can’t wait! Check out more about
it here http://www.wlup.com/check_it_out/keystone.aspx
. I have stories from riding around with Hector all week too!
Check back next week where I’ll post about the craziest
time I had with Hector, pictures and all!

Hectoberfest was everything I expected this weekend…beer,
beer, and yes…beer! Something I can totally connect
with. On the lighter side of drinking, I got Hector tipsy
enough to dye his hair blonde and put it in pig tails. Check
out the picture! OK, not really…but he looks pretty
cute in the blonde wig right?

As I said before, I’ll be walking in the 2007 Making
Strides against Breast Cancer walk in Chicago this Sunday!
It starts at Lawrence and the lake and goes for five miles.
I’m hoping to raise as much money for the charity I
can, and I’d be honored to have your support. The link
to donate is here http://teamacs.acsevents.org/site/TR?px=3257317&pg=personal&fr_id=3491
Thank you in advanced for your support and donation!
This week is the Van Halen show…they're actually playing
two shows, that’s how high their demand is in Chicago.
I’m excited to see David Lee Roth; especially after
recently talking with Steve Vai, world renowned guitarist,
who used to play guitar in David’s previous band. I’m
looking forward to it more than ever! David’s a crazy
guy! I’ll let you know just how crazy it gets in next
week's blog!

We watched the second game of the Cubs playoff series at Blarney
Stone in Oak Forest. When I said ‘hope for a sweep’
I wasn’t saying the Cubs being swept! The season promised
so much potential. Especially after June 1st, they were hot!
With Lee, Ramirez and Soriano, I thought we had a fighting
chance, but only four hits from our big hitters?!? How can
you win a game without them? That’s when the pitchers
had to produce and Lilly and Hill produced…a pile of
nothing! The team as a whole was a mess and Pinella didn’t
have the energy to motivate a class room of kindergarteners
to eat a chocolate coated marshmallow with Rainbow sprinkles
on it. Post season, unexpected sweep and a major let down
for us! There’s always next year, and the year after
and the year after…..
But the Bears last night…what a great game! After Urlacher's
interception, we were gold! At least there’s something
to celebrate this week! GO BEARS!
This Saturday I'll be with Hector in Island Lake for Hectoberfest…no,
I said that right. It's not Octoberfest, it's Hectoberfest!
We'll be at Sideouts Bar connecting with our German roots…well,
I'LL be connecting with my German roots. I'm not sure where
Hector's roots are from, but I do have a feeling we'll pretend
for Hector for the weekend! I may even be dressed like a German
bar maid :) Be sure not to miss the pictures I'll post next
week!
Also, this Sunday, October 21st I'll be participating in the
American Cancer Society's "Making Strides Against Breast
Cancer" 5 mile walk in Chicago! It is the premier event
that raises awareness and dollars to fight breast cancer,
which fund lifesaving research and support programs. Nearly
everyone knows someone who has been affected by breast cancer.
This walk is a chance to celebrate survivors and educate women
everywhere about early detection. And you can help! Follow
the link below to help support my walk and donate! Any amount
is appreciated and no amount is too little!

There’s something about firefighters I can’t help
but notice - their closeness with each other. There are definitely
distinct personalities that each house always seems to have,
and always the quiet new guy! But no matter how different
they are from each other, their strong brotherhood is always
the same. Even with the ‘new guy’ they finish
each others sentences like old married couples! Probably because
they spend so much time together; 24 hour days! You get to
know someone real well in that time, especially in the line
of work they do. When you’re a fire fighter you’re
also a family.

Notre Dame High School was shooting their class photo at their
football field last week and needed assistance from the Niles
Fire Department to shoot an aerial shot off their ladder,
which happened to be the station I was visiting. My dad graduated
from that high school in 1966 so I was eager to ride along.
We all jumped in the engine and were welcomed with a cheer.
It was great to be there and when they announced that the
daughter of a 1966 alumni was there, I couldn’t help
but smile for the rest of the day!
Congratulations to the Cubs for winning the National League
Central Division Title! I’ll be around town watching
the games with listeners hoping for a sweep. Check back with
me next week for the update and keep your fingers crossed!

Two Grammy's, ten nominations, and over twenty million in
record sales; he revolutionized rock with his seven string
guitar. If the only thing I did all year was meet Steve Vai,
I’d be happy. Playing for over 30 years, Steve Vai has
influenced hundreds of musicians, many you listen to today.
His passion for rebirth and excellence with his music is inspirational.
I had the opportunity to interview him before his show last
Friday at the House of Blues. Check back soon for video footage.

It was a busy week for me because I also had the privilege
to interview another rock icon, Nikki Sixx, founding member
of Motley Crew. His new book Heroin Diaries; A Year in the
Life of a Shattered Rock Star is a necessary addition to any
rock collection. The detail is so personal and explicit, revealing
extremely dark and intimate moments in his life - it's hard
to put down. Check out my interview with Nikki Sixx here.
Next week I'll be all over Chicago visiting local firefighters
at work! Look for the new pics next week! But it doesn't have
to be just fire houses; if you want me to visit your workplace,
send me an email at april@wlup.com.

Hockey pucks were speeding down the ice, but I was able to
make it through the last Rock Girl photo shoot with no bruises!
Last week we ended our 07’ - 08’ Rock Girl calendar
photo shoot and it turned out better than I expected! It was
the first day of training for the Chicago Blackhawks , so
I gladly shared the ice as they stepped out for the first
time this season. I stayed on one half of the ice while they
practiced on the other side. It was really great to be on
the ice at the same time as the Blackhawks, and a little dangerous
as well ! Hockey pucks were flying everywhere. I bet you’ve
never walked down the ice in stilettos ... it's a lot easier
than I thought it would be! We shot on the ice with the zamboni,
and I actually climbed on top for a couple shots! The calendar
shoot is complete and set to be ready at the end of October
! Here's a picture of me and Brian
McConkey, the photographer for the entire calendar shoot,
and his assistant Katie on the United Center ice! Thanks Brian
and Katie, you guys rock! That’s a wrap!
This week I'm excited to see Steve Vai in concert! I’ve
seen him about four times now and I know to expect a great
show. I'll let you know how it goes next week!

There’s something about seeing Rush live that
makes you fall in love with them. Rush played as part of The
Loop’s 30 year anniversary concert series last Saturday
night, and they were incredible! They played a three hour
set consisting of eleven songs, intermission, then another
fourteen songs with a three song encore, who can really do
that?! Rush did and I’d see them do it all over again
tomorrow if I could. Rush has been hitting the mainstream
for over 30 years so their set was packed with decades of
chart topping classics. It was my first time seeing the band,
yes I deserve all the grief for that! You can’t truly
be a Rush fan unless you’ve witnessed the men of Rush
live. Truly incredible! And Neil Peurt Rocks!
So this Thursday concludes the Rock Girl Calendar Photo Shoot
which will take place at the united center...on the ice! I’m
hoping to heat things up out there, ill be sure to post a
picture of one of the out takes next week!
Check out my picture of the week of me visiting some firefighters
in Lombard!

Imagine yourself center court at the United Center, quiet
and all seats are empty. Thinking about years past, victories
won and emotions felt through the stadium made it so exciting
to be there. Yes! I was just there, center court for the continuation
of our 2007 - 2008 Rock Girl Calendar photo shoot. We were
there last Thursday for the shoot and had the whole place
to ourselves. There’s something about the nostalgia
of the United Center that makes my adrenaline rush. Walking
around center court we shot for the calendar, and I couldn’t
help but think about all the great moments that took place
on the same floor. I’ll be back there for one more shot
when they put the ice down and I’m really looking forward
to it!

And again…more fire houses last week! But, this time
I got to try on the fire suit…and the boots - so heavy!
How can you walk around in them!? Also I got a tour at one
fire house where they train in the back of the house. You
can see in the picture where I'm climbing down from a roof
that they actually built to destroy over and over again. The
fire fighters actually take turns ripping through that roof
with axes and saws. Fun! The building it's next to was used
as a training simulation for real fires but was used so much
that the hot fires started breaking down the bricks and now
it ' s not structurally sound. Check out the pics!
Also...last week was the MDA Bikini car wash I hosted. WGN
morning news came out to help us promote the event where we
raised a lot of money for the organization! I had some of
the sweet sixteen girls helping me wash all the cars and we
were lucky enough to have the Hoffman Estates F ire D epartment
out with us getting their hands wet helping wash cars! You
guys made the event so much fun! Thanks! And thanks to everyone
who came out and made a donation!
Looking forward to next Saturday ' s Rush concert, part of
The Loop's 30th anniversary concert series! I love Neil Peart!
I’ll make sure to recap the night for you if you in
case you miss it!

Never thought I’d be surrounded by ice water during
a photo shoot! Last week started the beginning of the 2007-2008
Loop Rock Girl Calendar photo shoot. Fitting in 12 hour days,
we nearly completed all the shots. Traveling with a group
of necessary people to places like Chicago’s House of
Blues and Criminal Customs Motorcycle Shop, it seemed more
of an adventure than work. Along our way one stop was at North
Avenue Beach in Chicago. I’ve been there before but
never at the end of August when the lake chill still takes
your breath away. The photographer was convinced it was necessary
to swim out in the cold water for a shot. Jaws only lives
in salt water so I knew it was safe! Slowly, we made our way
out, shooting along the way until we couldn’t stand
anymore. My arms where numb from the cold water as I swam
alongside the photographer who was ready with his underwater
camera making for some awesome shots! There was video being
shot for a “behind the scenes” segment that will
be posted on my page soon. My blood nearly froze - got some
amazing shots - you’ll love them - end of story!

We still have a few more shots to go… A couple at the
United Center and on The Loop Hummer; I’ll let you know
how it goes! The calendar will be out this fall so you’ll
have to check back to see where you can pick one up.
8-21-07
Too much Johnny B?? That’s not possible! But first,
continuing on the topic of our Chicago firefighters from last
week; they don’t just save people from fire, but a group
of firefighters that save people from water!?!
This week, we scoured Chicago again looking for hard working
firehouses to visit! But, instead of bringing them cold water
bottles like we did last week, we set our clocks early to
bring them breakfast. Not only were they happy to have us,
but one house actually thought it was such a great gesture
from The Loop that they gave cool stuff in return! Pretty
nice! Coolest house yet J !

During our visit to one of the firehouses, sirens actually
went off! I was worried about this beforehand, wondering how
quickly things would organize out the door. The movies make
it look very dramatic…and it is. Quickly they thanked
us and were out the door in seconds. It got quiet quick, but
we weren’t the only ones still at the firehouse. They
had a dive team there who stayed behind; firefighters who
are specially trained to perform water emergencies. We got
the full tour. They had serious SCUBA gear in the back of
their fire engine. Suits that were almost just as heavy as
the traditional fire suits made of extremely thick rubber.
They were getting ready to go out on a test dive to prepare
for the Air and Water Show over the weekend at North Avenue
Beach. Saving people from the water can be just as dangerous
as saving people from fire. Luckily, there were no emergencies
at the Air and Water Show this weekend, but because it was
rained out and nobody went! No fun!
Also, this past weekend Johnny B had one of his last concerts
in the Johnny and the Leisure Suits World Tour. Of course
I went! How could I miss that! It was at Blarney Island in
Antioch. Blarney Island is a bar in the middle of Grass Lake
that hosts concerts and beer. Lots of beer! We took a ferry
out to the bar which added to the adventure. But, there was
no way to avoid getting ambushed by the millions of blood
thirsty mosquitoes…a little angry, I came home with
one less pint of blood! The concert was great though. People
got to the island early and had been drinking all day…you
could tell, which made for a huge party atmosphere…an
atmosphere you could only expect from a Johnny and The Leisure
Suits concert!
This week we’re starting the Bud Light Rock Girl 2008
calendar shoot! The 2007 calendar was smoking hot and it can
only get better! The shoot is three days long...trying to
fit twelve months in three days sounds stressful! I'll let
you know how it went next week if I'm still alive!
8-15-2007
From the golf course to the fire station, last week was definitely out of
the ordinary! Interesting as Johnny B is, I'm always surprised by the
crazy things he does. On Thursday, Johnny B held a charity golf outing
aiding kids with cancer through the Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer
Foundation. Johnny B actually drove around with a mega phone on his golf
cart shouting hilarious comments to all the players. Then, as crazy as
he is, he had a fishing pole with him where he proceeded to catch fish
from the water hazard in the middle of the golf course! Really,
fishing?!? Yes JB is always up to something! It defiantly was an
interesting course to be on! I also stationed my self at a hole for a
while and bet players to out drive me. My victory entailed them to
donate $20 extra to the charity. I'm no professional but, some how was
able to hold my own as the first Loop Rock Girl to be able to play golf!
It was so much fun out with Johnny B and Bear Necessities where we
raised a lot of money for the kids!
Also during the week, I had the fortunate opportunity to visit some
construction workers and fire fighters out working hard in the Chicago
heat. It basically consisted of handing out cold bottles of water and
thanking them for all their hard work over the summer. We drove all
around Chicago stopping by random construction sites and fire houses.
Every time we stopped by a location all the guys were so happy to see
us, especially the firefighters at Engine 4 Tower 10 in Cabrini Green. I
asked them how they felt about the area they worked in knowing there was
a high crime rate there. I was told theirs an 'understanding' they have
with the surrounding neighborhood.
'They leave us alone, and we leave them alone.' Richie, a firefighter
who is also a part time police officer said.
But still, on Division Street, when you pass by you can see bullet holes
where rust stains now drip from on the blue awning that faces south that
remind firefighters of rougher days. The fire house I was assured, is
very safe, having bullet proof windows and of course ample amounts of
strong firefighters!
Id love to 'run' into you sometime soon! We'll be going out more in the
next couple days so I'd love to stop by! Just send me an email of your
location and you never know, I might just come over! I know well run
into some interesting times on the street and I'll be sure to keep you
posted next week about what happened and where we ended up.

Platinum blonde hair with a super cut, tan body, she walked out wearing a cowboy hat and not much more than that.
Heather Cox was the runner up in the Real Time Sports Bar bikini competition this past weekend in Elk Grove Village where the winner walked home with $1,000 check. I sat along side Dennis McKinnon from the 85’ Bears as we judged the girls in the final competition. While our top pick girl definitely had all the curves and sex appeal needed to rule any bikini contest around, the runner up gave her a good challenge for the top spot and a very memorable experience. Heather captivated the crowd instantly in her straw cowboy hat she quickly lost to a lucky onlooker. She paused, threw her hands up and went into a series of back flips ending in the splits. Completely unexpected from your average bikini contest , there’s something about a sexy girl doing back flips in a bikini that can really get a crowd worked up ! So by the end of three rounds full of bikinis and dancing I turned to Dennis McKinnon and laid out my top three picks. He put his score sheet down and our picks matched exactly. Nice! I guess we have similar taste when it comes to the ladies…or you just cant overlook a sexy girl when you see one! So obvious to us, as much as we loved Heather, the clear winner; the 5’5”, brunette Krista, had curves to rule bikini contests all over for years to come.

Last Tuesday I was at First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre in Tinley Park for the second show of The Loop's 30th Anniversary Concert Series with Poison. I was extremely lucky to have someone as laid back and comfortable as Bret Michaels, front man for Poison, for my first big interview. We arrived at First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre before doors opened and shot as much footage as we could that went on behind the scenes. Just before the show I had a great interview with Bret on his bus. We enjoyed a few drinks together then he had to get on stage. We were able to watch from the side of the stage but we had to be careful where we stood because of all the pyrotechnics involved with the show.... f lames were everywhere and sometimes they would explode, (we were warned to plug our ears before each large explosion!). Before the show was over Bret had me come out on stage for the encore. I didn’t know I was going on for that, but his manager just grabbed me from the side of the stage and pulled me to center stage in front of thousands of people to bring Poison back out for one more song… You never know what to expect from a Poison show I guess! Following the show, we headed to the after party with Bret at The Venue in Joliet. He got on stage with this 80's cover band and sang a couple songs which was really cool for him to do. We partied for a while, but it was late, and being that we already had a long day, we left before the meet and greet was over. But, I'm excited to say that the entire shoot was a success! The video will give everyone an inside look at what it's like to be backstage and spend an evening on the road with Bret Michaels! Check it out... Click Here for the video!

The Loop's first concert of a few concerts in the Loop's 30th Anniversary Concert series was the Def Leppard, Styx and Foreigner concert this past weekend and it was incredible!
This was the my first time seeing any of these bands live and I wasn’t sure what to expect – having only heard them on the radio, and randomly catching an all intense 80's cover band… I know now, there’s nothing like the real thing!
Brett our contest winner and I introduced the set. Being in front of thousands of Loop listeners I thought id be a little more nervous, seriously, if I tripped over a cord in my stilettos while introducing a band for the first time as the Loop Rock Girl I'd never hear the end of it. But the excitement of the night and knowing I'm in my favorite city, Chicago (which I love), I was more than comfortable. But thinking back now, these bands have to go on in front of thousands of people night after night and there has to be some great footage of mishaps on stage! And of course, my favorite one…our beloved Ms. Brittany Spears…click on the link to check it out!

Softball with the station. It’s not a matter of winning or losing, but about how much or little we lose by. I’m on the station’s softball league where we’re required to have at least two girls playing at all times. So of course I come through with my limited coordination and all star excitement to have a good time. And when I say have a good time, I mean as much fun as you can have at a softball game. Well, when you’re playing with the ‘influence’ of good refreshing beverages, there’s no high expectations to be well coordinated. The combination of our undeniable streak for failure, (no correlation with the tasty beverages I’m sure!), brings a need to compensate for that failure, leading us to severely heckle all other radio league teams we play. Heckling doesn’t make us better players, but it does make up for the beating we take on the field. We’ve pissed off plenty a players on the enemies side, and don’t plan on stopping. Sure we suck, and we listen to loud rock music, and have tattoos, but at least we all suck at softball together.
