Foo Induct Rush

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced some details about this year’s induction ceremony that honors Rush, Albert King, Randy Newman, Donna Summer, Heart and the greatest rock band of all time – Public Enemy.. who just happens to have some of the most rockin musicians of all time – Chuck D and the king of rock and roll himself – Flavor Flav. (insert toilet bowl sound effect here).
The good news is that we now know that Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins from the Foo Fighters will induct RUSH. That’s very cool.
We know that John Mayer will induct the great Albert King, and do a performance of Kings Music with fellow ax slinger Galry Clark Jr. Hey, that’s also cool.
I’m sorry, I’m gonna say it, again. Public Enemy and Flavor Flav, while talented at what they do, are so far away from what I would remotely call rock and roll that their inclusion into the hall just perpetuates what so many of us rock fans have been saying all along – The rock and roll hall of fame.. simply is not.
So, yes, I will watch the ceremony. I will be excited to see SOME of these great rock artists. I will be excited for their fans who have wanted to see them included, and then I will cry out BULLSHIT! as Public Enemy gets their mention, and then I will wonder if we should be trying to get Metallica into the Hip Hop Hall of Fame, you know, just to be fair.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction takes place Thursday, April 18 at the Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE. Tickets go on sale for American Express card members on Thursday, January 24. On January 28, preferred seating presales begin for members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, as well as members of the official Heart and Rush fan clubs. Ticket sales to the general public begin Friday, February 1. Check Ticketmaster.com for more information.
The induction ceremony will be broadcast on HBO on Saturday, May 18 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
