Just how does one end up being a fugitive on the run from the authorities?
It all started at the tender age of 15 when a radio station in the middle of a cornfield couldn’t find anyone with a deeper voice… who would work cheaper (or is that “cheeper”?). Thus a radio career was born. Hatched, maybe.
Many years later (don’t ask him how many, it makes him grouchy), having worked at rock radio stations in Las Vegas, Baltimore / Washington D.C., St. Louis, Philadelphia and even a ten year (known as a “tenure”) span up in Canada (where he escaped to until things “cooled down”) in Winnipeg and Toronto, the Byrd flew to Chicago and the Loop in 2004.
Tired of running from town to town (one wears out a lot of shoes that way), Byrd finally returned the library book (“How to Avoid Responsibility”) and paid the overdue charges. Happily, Byrd is now no longer on the “Most Wanted” list and sleeps better at night, a fugitive no more. Then again, maybe it’s those Chicago-style deep-dish pizzas that kinda puts him into a coma.
The Byrd is not married and resides in downtown Chicago.
