Hello Chicagoland! I'm Leah, your 2009 Loop Rock Girl! I couldn't be more excited to represent the best rock station in Chicago! I am also ecstatic to spend my year getting to know all you Loyal Loopers! So, let's start this year off like I promised, hot, sexy and rockin'! And let me begin by telling you a little about me!
I was born in Park Ridge and grew up in Prospect Heights, Il. At the age of 11, my parents separated and we were transferred to Dayton, Ohio where I began creating my path in music, art, and communication.
As a little girl I can remember so many times where my dad and I took road trips while listening to Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stones.
Little did I know that when I grew up I would be presenting those amazing rock bands along with so many others!
As an adolescent, I'm sure I set my parents on quite an adventure! But all in all I was just your sweet girl next door! Growing up I played softball from 5 years old until Junior year in high school where I became an all-star catcher! I was a good student who was very involved in music and the arts. I spent countless hours exploring as many media as I could!
In high school, I was the girl that was friends with everyone and who everyone knew! I was lead of the spirit club and at one point the school mascot, an elk! After high school I was anxious to be out on my own and spent some time on the campus of University of Kentucky. After time spent in Kentucky, I realized I wanted to be in the big Windy City once again to start my career and explore my dreams.
Moving back to Chicago opened many doors for me. I took my experience in art and communication and started to freelance as a professional makeup artist. I then landed a job for MAC cosmetics as a makeup consultant in 2007. I was meeting so many people by doing their makeup for weddings, prints, and photo shoots, it created the gateway of modeling for me.
Being a makeup artist and modeling didn't quite pay the bills all the time so I bartended on the side. Juggling all three jobs just wasn't enough for me! I knew I was destined to get out there and pursue my dreams in a different way. The opportunity came last year in 2008 when I was bartending at Fire bar in Crystal Lake where the Loop was doing auditions for the Loop Rock girl. I knew right then that this was my opportunity to shine and pursue my dreams! That year I was runner-up when Kelly was crowned Loop Rock Girl. The feelings I got being on the stage and watching Kelly throughout the year was so remarkable, I knew I was going to come back in 2009 and try my hardest to win it all.
Before I knew it, I was chosen to represent the largest rock station in Chicago as the 2009 Loop Rock Girl!
As the Loop Rock girl I want to experience it all. I want to meet as many people as I can and attend all the rock concerts coming up this year! I promise to keep Chicago rockin' hard! Come along with me this year and let's start creating some incredible memories! I'm looking forward to being your rock 'n' roll fantasy this year! Let's do this Chicago!
