How many more days until Bears football season?

Quick, let me check my calendar…

Wow. I might want to double-check this calendar.  Seems the month of May is going to be really fun to watch.

This is not a great time of the year for sports fans.  Last Saturday (1/19) was the first since August of 2012 with no college football games.  And this Sunday there are no NFL games worth watching.

That’s not a misprint.  I understand the NFL Pro Bowl is on Sunday but what I wrote was there are no NFL games worth watching.  And there aren’t. Tell me would you still be a fan of the National Football League if these were the rules during the regular season?

-  No motion or shifting by the offense

-  Offense may not have three receivers on the same side

-  Defense must run a 4–3 at all times

-  No press coverage except inside the five-yard line

-  No blitz

-  Not allowed to rush a punt, PAT or FG attempt

No, I’m not a fan of the Pro Bowl. In fact, I’d argue that the Lingerie Football League has more aggressive action than the NFL does in its annual All-Star Game.

Super Bowl Sunday can’t come soon enough. We thank the Blackhawks, Bulls, Cubs and White Sox for keeping us sports fans entertained until the Bears report back to camp. Oh, and the Chicago Bliss too.
