NASCAR & NHRA Nationals
2/20/2013 11:32:00 AM
According to a friend that hates auto racing, that’s his acronym for “NASCAR”. And at one time I might have agreed but not anymore.
Since the new millennium, I’ve attended racing events at numerous tracks and speedways all over the country. It’s a great experience and I’ll be at more soon.
Sunday (2/24) begins the 2013 Sprint Cup season with the Daytona 500. Danica Patrick – who recently announced splitting with her husband and is now seeing fellow driver, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. – will be on the pole.
Which leads to the NASCAR-related mathematical question…How many times can 17 go into 10? (rim-shot)
Despite starting from the top position, Danica is only listed as 12/1 to take the checkered flag at Daytona.
Here are the favorites to win this year’s “Great American Race”…
Tony Stewart 15/2
Matt Kenseth 8/1
Jimmie Johnson 9/1
Dale Earnhardt Jr 9/1
This weekend The Loop is going “Back to the Track”. Listen for two-fers and the code word to text (312-979) for a chance to win tickets for the STP 300, Dollar General 300 and the Geico 400.
Scott Paddock is the President of the Chicagoland Speedway and also Route 66 Raceway. We talked to Scott about the O’Reilly Auto Parts Route 66 NHRA Nationals presented by Super Start Batteries to be held June 27-30.
Tickets are available now and you can hear our conversation with Scott at the top right of this blog.
