Mary McCartney/MPL Communications Ltd.Paul McCartney was among the celebrities attending a special showing of the newly restored version The Beatles' 1967 film Magical Mystery Tour that took place Tuesday night at the British Film Institute in London. According to NME.com, Macca sat next to Giles Martin, son of longtime Fab Four producer George Martin, at the event.
In a message posted on his Twitter feed, Giles remarks that the movie "sounded fantastic." Other stars spotted at the screening included former Jam frontman Paul Weller, ex-Oasis guitarist Liam Gallagher and Monty Python member Terry Jones.
The revamped Magical Mystery Tour is scheduled to be released on DVD and Blu-ray this Tuesday. The discs will offer a variety of bonus material, including new interviews with McCartney and Ringo Starr, commentary by Sir Paul, deleted scenes, a making-of documentary and a short feature about the cast members.
One of the previously unseen Magical Mystery Tour segments is available for viewing now at TheSpace.org. The clip shows The Beatles and other travelers on the bus featured in the film visiting a fish and chips shop.
