Columbia RecordsA brand-new recording by Patti Smith will get its debut on Sunday night during the season finale of HBO's prohibition-era crime drama, Boardwalk Empire.  Smith recorded a rendition of the old standard "I Ain't Got Nobody" specifically for the program, which will premiere at 9 p.m. ET.

In the episode, titled "Margate Sands," lead character Nucky Thompson -- portrayed by Steve Buscemi -- and his nemesis, volatile mobster Gyp Rosetti, have a showdown over control of Atlantic City.

In other news, Smith and her band are serving as a support act for Neil Young & Crazy Horse through a concert this Tuesday in Bridgeport, Connecticut, according to Pollstar.  She also will perform at a special Christmas Jubilee show on December 16 at the Scottish Rite Cathedral in Detroit.
