Columbia RecordsBruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, Roger Waters, Metallica and Elton John scored big on Pollstar's list of the Top 50 Worldwide Tours of 2012.
Pollstar has calculated the grosses for tours for the entire year, and The Boss and his group took the #2 spot on the tally after their trek brought in $210.2 million over 81 shows. Right behind Springsteen was Waters, whose The Wall Live Tour landed at #3 after grossing $186.4 million over 72 shows.
A bit further down on the tally was Metallica, who ended up in eighth place with $86.1 million for 30 gigs. Elton was next, at #9, with $69.9 million over 95 concerts. Rounding out the top 10 were Red Hot Chili Peppers with $57.8 million for 77 shows.
Also among the artists making Pollstar's list of top 50 worldwide tours were Paul McCartney at #11 with $56.9 million, Van Halen at #15 with $49.9 million, The Rolling Stones at #33 with $35.5 million, The Scorpions at #38 with $32.7 million, Jimmy Buffett at #39 with $32.3 million and Aerosmith at #44 with $31.0 million.
Taking the top spot, by the way, was Madonna, whose MDNA trek grossed an impressive $296.1 million over 88 shows.
