SoundCityMovie.comDave Grohl has scheduled a unique concert to celebrate the first screening of his star-studded new documentary, Sound City. The Foo Fighters frontman/Nirvana drummer, along with a number of as-yet-unrevealed artists from the film, will perform as Grohl's Sound City Players on January 18 at Park City Live in Park City, Utah. That's the same day that the movie premieres at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival.
Sound City profiles the legendary Sound City Studios, where Grohl and Nirvana recorded the band's iconic 1991 album Nevermind, and features interviews with and exclusive performances from other artists who have worked at the famous facility during their careers. Some of the luminaries featured in the film and/or on its soundtrack include Paul McCartney, John Fogerty, Stevie Nicks, Neil Young, Tom Petty, Cheap Trick guitarist Rick Nielsen and former Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic, Rick Springfield and Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor.
"The film Sound City showcases the most talented group of musicians in the world and we are thrilled they chose to celebrate the documentary at Park City Live," the venue's CEO, Kathryn Burns, says in a statement. "The evening will be spectacular and we look forward to seeing who will join Dave Grohl and the Sound City Players onstage."
Ticketing information for the concert, as well as the complete list of performers in Grohl's Sound City Players, will be revealed in the coming weeks.
