Expansive Box Set of Duane Allman Recordings Due Out in March


Rounder RecordsA seven-disc compilation of recordings from late Allman Brothers Band guitarist Duane Allman's brief but prolific career will be released on March 12, according to HittinTheNote.comSkydog: The Duane Allman Retrospective features a whopping 129 songs covering all parts of the slide guitar whiz's musical journey.

In addition to classic tunes from his famous group's catalog, the collection features tracks from his pre-Allmans psychedelic outfits like The Allman Joys and The Hour Glass, songs from his stints with Derek & the Dominos and Delaney & Bonnie and recordings from his session work with a wide variety of legendary artists.  Stars whose songs Allman lent his considerable talents to include Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett, Boz Scaggs, Ronnie Hawkins, Otis Rush, Laura Nyro and Lulu. reports that Skydog also will include liner notes penned by Duane's daughter, Galadrielle, and veteran rock journalist Scott Schinder.  Complete official details about the compilation are expected to be revealed on Monday.
