DavidBowie.comThe video for "The Stars (Are Out Tonight)," the second single from David Bowie's upcoming album The Next Day, debuted online late Monday night. The video, which stars Tilda Swinton as Bowie's onscreen wife, is as unique as one might expect from the groundbreaking artist.
According to Bowie's Facebook page, the video, directed by Floria Sigismondi, "at once captures a twenty-first century moment in its convergence of age, gender and the normal/celebrity divide." Sigismondi previously called the shots on Bowie's videos for "Little Wonder" and "Dead Man Walking."
Bowie and Swinton portray a happily-married couple whose domestic life is disrupted by a pair of androgynous models -- Andrej Pejic, who is male, and Saskia De Brauw, who is female -- playing a "celebrity couple."
The Next Day is available for pre-order, though it is expected to be released March 12.
