Photo: Timothy Greenfield-SandersLou Reed has pulled the plug on his two scheduled performances at next month's Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, as well as the three other California concerts he lined up between his appearances at the fest. According to Goldenvoice, promoters of Coachella, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer's shows "have been canceled due to unavoidable complications."
Reed's Coachella sets were to have taken place on April 12 and April 19. The influential rocker other nixed gigs were headlining gigs that had been scheduled for April 14 at Warfield Theatre in San Francisco, April 16 at the Golden State Theatre in Monterey and April 17 at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles.
The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is held annually at the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, California. This year's edition is scheduled for April 12-14 and April 19-21, and will feature performances by dozens of artists, including The Red Hot Chili Peppers, New Order, Blur, The Stones Roses, Social Distortion, The Violent Femmes, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Rodriguez and Dinosaur Jr.
