Paul McCartney Opens Up On Beatles Split

Paul McCartney has opened up on his split from the Beatles and says that he may not have handled the breakup as well as he could have.

In an interview with the Huffington Post, Sir Paul says that his press statement to announce his solo debut McCartney may have been slightly heavy handed:

"It's possible to read all sorts of other things into it, read all sorts of motives of mine into it, which is I think what happened. For me, it was simply a way to answer some questions I might have been asked if I had done interviews."

The former Beatle adds, however, that he was not trying to start controversy but rather move on with his career quickly:

"I've been accused of not thinking things through enough. I get enthusiastic about something and say I'd like to do it, so let's do it. And that's mainly a good thing, because you get things done. It can occasionally create difficulties because you don't think of the implications. And to me, I hadn't thought of the implications. I was just putting out an album of some stuff that I liked."

"If I had been entirely honest, I just would have said that John has folded the group. But I'm not sure that would have gone down well, either."

Alice Cooper Reveals Halloween-Themed Fall Tour

Alice Cooper has announced that he will be playing a Halloween-themed "Night of Fear" tour this fall.

The tour will coincide with the release of his upcoming Welcome 2 My Nightmarealbum, (produced by Bob Ezrin and slated for release in September) and kicks off in Sheffield on October 25 with further shows in Bristol, Birmingham, London and Manchester before wrapping up in Glasgow on Halloween night.

Said Cooper of the tour: "It's been a while since we played such an intimate venue, but strip away the theatrics and we are a pedal-to-the-metal rock band, born in clubs like the 100 Club. We play every show like that anyway and it will be fantastic to reconnect in that atmosphere. This show comes with a health warning - 'We don't do acoustic, this will be loud'."

Cooper will be performing a small show at the London 100 Club on June 26. The New York Dolls will be opening for dates between October 27 and 31.

Bob Dylan Denied Local Award In London

Bob Dylan has reportedly been passed over for an award given by the council of the London borough of Haringey. The borough is also the home of Eurythmicsguitarist Dave Stewart and Dylan has been a frequent visitor to the area throughout his career.

Dylan was nominated for the Freedom of Haringey award, and if chosen would have received the honor while in London for the Feis Festival on June 18. In an official statement to theDaily Express, a rep from the council explained the decision.

"We are grateful for (the) suggestion, but the Freedom of the Borough is usually reserved for individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to life in the borough," said the rep.

The area's trade council Keith Flett says, however, that Dylan is the perfect choice for the award.

"He has a long association with Haringey, and not only would the freedom of the borough recognise that, it would also put the borough on the map for Dylan fans. We are calling on councillors to re-think the decision. We reckon quite a few are actually Dylan fans themselves," Flett tells the BBC.
