An Auction Too Cool Not to Mention

It's not exacly Classic Rock, but it's cool.  Wanna own Buddy Holly's motorcycle?  Hank Williams' cowboy boots?  Willie Nelson's hair braids?

Waylon Jennings collected a ton of stuff over his long musical career and 2,000 of those items are about to be auctioned to help a children's hospital.  Phoenix’s Musical Instrument Museum will host the event this October, put together by his widow, Jessi Colter.

Included is an Ariel Cyclone motorcycle originally owned by the great Buddy Holly and gifted to Jennings by Jennings, who was Holly’s bass player on his final tour (and gave up his seat on the plane to Buddy).  Then there’s Willie Nelson‘s braids, which he cut off in 1983 to support Jennings road to sobriety.  Yes, you can own Willie Nelson’s hair.

Also in the auction: a handwritten letter to Jennings from John Lennon and a custom pair of cowboy boots emblazoned with a white “H” for original owner Hank Williams.

Fans who can’t get to Phoenix for the auction will be able to purchase a catalog from Guernsey’s, the auction house handling the event, that details each item in the sale, for $32. http://www.guernseys.com/index.html

Jennings died in February of 2002 from complications of diabetes, after a series of health problems.
