Metallica Wins a Spot in the Guinness World Records

Here's an award we didn't see coming.  Metallica have been awarded a spot in the 2015 Guinness World Records book for became the first band to play all seven continents in one year during their 2013 world tour.

Metallica played 25 concert dates in 2013, starting with Australia’s Soundwave Festival in February and wrapping up with a special show in Antarctica.

“In addition to performing live in North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Australia, and Africa,” posted the band, “the year was capped off with a visit to Antarctica on December 8, 2013 to play for 120 scientists, contest winners and their penguin friends at the Argentine Carlini Station. We were literally at the bottom of the earth for one of the most unique, special and unforgettable days in our 30+ years as a band and low and behold, our little adventure sealed the deal for the record! Who woulda thought…”

Metallica are featured in the 60th anniversary Guinness World Records book, which will be published September 10.
