AC/DC rumor mill: Chris Slade will replace Phil Rudd on drums

Although not confirmed by the band, all signs are pointing to drummer Chris Slade returning to AC/DC to replace Phil Rudd.

Slade played for AC/DC from 1989 to 1994 between stints by Rudd, appearing on the album The Razor's Edge. He played on with Tom Jones at the height of his career along with numerous other artists including Manfred Mann's Earth Band, Asia and The Firm.

So, what started these latest rumors?  Slade's optometrist.  Slade cancelled an appointment with Dr. Alex Corbin Liu on Saturday.  Liu then wrote on his Facebook page "…theres actually big news regarding Slade and his career coming in next several days which is why he had to reschedule this event."

AC/DC is scheduled to perform this Sunday at the Grammys and current drummer Rudd is not allowed to leave New Zealand while he is awaiting trial for threatening to kill a business associate and drug possession.

Speaking of AC/DC rumors…  Keep an ear on The Loop Monday when we expect to have a major announcement. 🙂
