Don Henley’s Chicago Show Went Smoothly. Detroit’s…Not So Much

So the Eagles vs. Don Felder feud continues.  While Henley’s Sunday night performance at the Chicago Theater went off without a hitch, on Saturday at the Fox Theater in Detroit, the performer had a fan ejected for yelling out Don Felder’s name as he was introducing the audience to guitarist Steuart Smith, who has served as the Eagles guitarist since 2001.

From MLive.com:

Henley tells MLive a fan in the front row yelled out Don Felder’s name. “So, I called him out,” said Henley. “But, he wasn’t finished. Then, he blurted out, “Don Felder taught Tom Petty how to play guitar. I said, OK, that’s it, you’re outta here, and I had security escort him out.”

The audience cheered the fan’s ejection. Henley then told the crowd, “I did exactly what Glenn (Frey) would have wanted me to do in his hometown.” Glenn Frey, of course, was born in Detroit and raised in Royal Oak. Henley said yesterday was Glenn’s birthday and that was his present to him.
