People out for a night of live music represent a big portion of the victims of the Paris terror attacks, where fans were on hand to see the Eagles of Death Metal at what turned out to be one of the attack sites. It appears the band escaped safely, but at last check the L.A. Times is reporting that one crew member was killed and another is hospitalized.
From Eagles of Death Metal: “We are still currently trying to determine the safety and whereabouts of all our band and crew. Our thoughts are with all of the people involved in this tragic situation.”
With the current situation and France’s borders closed, several other acts are cancelling performances over the next few days. U2 had played 2 of their 4 Paris concerts but have cancelled the Saturday and Sunday shows. The Saturday concert was to air on HBO.
Police in Paris have asked that Motorhead cancel their concert Sunday night. And Foo Fighters have cancelled the 4 remaining dates on their current European tour which was due in Paris on Monday night. Their statement: “It is with profound sadness and heartfelt concern for everyone in Paris that we have been forced to announce the cancellation of the rest of our tour. In light of this senseless violence, the closing of borders, and international mourning, we can’t continue right now. There is no other way to say it. This is crazy and it sucks. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who was hurt or who lost a loved one.”
