With a little help from Ultimate Classic Rock, an interview with Sammy Hagar that appears in the Daily Bulletin in Ontario, CA, could be revealing. Could there be a thaw between the brothers Van Halen and the Sammy/Michael Anthony camp?
The clues…
Sammy Hagar reaches out via twitter to wish Eddie Van Halen a Happy Birthday, and Eddie responded. So at least they’re exchanging pleasantries.
A photo of Michael Anthony has surfaced with him posing in front of an amplifier with a Van Halen logo.
And notice how, although he corrects himself, Hagar says “when” as the topic of Van Halen comes up in this interview with the newspaper.
“My favorite thing to say without biting my own tongue is no comment. Every time I turned around, it was a no-win situation. If I say what I feel … I would always get 50 percent of the Van Halen fans saying, ‘Right on, you rule.’ Then the haters would dog me like, ‘You’re always dogging Van Halen.’ I’m going to shut up. They get their wish. We’ll see what happens when it happens — if it happens.”
Maybe wishful thinking, but the rumor mill is churning.
