The Who- What’s Next?

Pete Townshend is always grumbling about touring with The Who, yet he never seems to say no to doing so. So there is a chance of more U.S. dates late next year.

He tells Rolling Stone, “Roger [Daltrey] and I had lunch with our manager last week and…talked about the future and what we might and might not do. I don’t think we’re finished doing what we’re doing. Certainly, we’re finished with the so-called ’52nd-anniversary tour.’ Desert Trip was a good place to close that. And we were all really happy about that…

“We don’t particularly want to go and do heavy touring again but…I feel better about the future than I have for a long time, with respect to The Who. I’ve never had any worries about what I might do myself. I’m always fiddling about doing what I want to do, but we both feel that there’s a chance that we could find some way to do stuff. Roger and I probably can work together and make music together in the future, maybe even do new recordings.”

Pete and Roger will do acoustic performances of Tommy in its entirety at London’s Royal Albert Hall March 30th and April 1st. Those are benefit shows for the Teenage Cancer Trust. Townshend is also working on a new novel that may be published next year.
