Neil Young has bowed out of inducting Pearl Jam into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Friday night due to an unspecified illness.

The Rock Hall has gotten another big Pearl Jam fan in his place — David Letterman. Letterman has a long history with the band — they appeared on his only commercial-free edition of the Late Show in 1996, Matt Cameron made his public debut as the band’s drummer during an appearance in May 1998, and Eddie Vedder performed “Better Man” on one of Letterman’s final episodes of the Late Show in 2015.
