Journey- Schon Staying Busy

Neal Schon many be a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer now, but he’s not resting on his laurels.

In addition to a fairly heavy schedule with Journey, the guitarist has one solo project already in the works and another he’d like to dive into as soon as the first one is done. Already in the works is an instrumental solo album he’s cutting with jazz, pop and R&B producer Narada Michael Walden, which he tells us is a big departure from his previous solo projects.
Walden is expecting to write half the songs and the other half will be covers. He describes its sound as “symphonic” and says it will lend itself to being played live with an orchestra. The other project is with producer Kevin Shirley. Schon describes what he has in mind for that one.
Speaking of touring, Schon says there’s also a chance he might hit the road with Santana 4 again later this year.
