Lightning deaths at record low

Well, here’s some good news…

Lightning-related deaths are at a record low. Only 16 people in the U.S. were killed by lightning in 2017, according to the National Weather Service. The previous record was set when 23 people died in 2013.

…and it seems like Illinois is more low-risk than other states. Almost a third of the lightning deaths last year happened in Florida.
