Cleveland Indians mascot ‘Chief Wahoo’ is going away

The Cleveland Indians are getting rid of Chief Wahoo. The controversial logo’s going to be removed from the Indians’ uniform for the 2019 season.

The logo has been on team uniforms since 1948. Indians’ boss Paul Dolan decided to make the change after mounting pressure. The New York Times quotes American Indian Movement of Ohio executive director Phillip Yenyo as saying it’s “another step in the right direction.”
