How metal is this? Dictionary considering adding ‘metal’ as an adjective

Mirriam-Webster has added “metal” (used as an adjective) to its “Words We’re Watching.”

The website acknowledges metal’s become more frequently used to describe things, and that it “evokes the powerful energy and dark themes of heavy metal music, communicating toughness, intensity, and general, er, badassery.”

Metal’s addition to the dictionary isn’t a guarantee. It still hasn’t checked all the criteria boxes listed here.
