Stones Insist Trump Stop Using Their Music

Following Tuesday’s victory in the Indiana primary-in which Donald Trump drummed out his two remaining competitors for the Republican Presidential nomination-Trump went before followers at New York’s Trump Tower at a rally to the strains of The Rolling Stones’ classic “Start Me Up”.  Everyone seemed to love it.  Except the Stones, who immediately in a statement demanded that the campaign cease use of the song saying they never gave permission for them to use it or any of their songs.

The Trump campaign ran into this issue earlier in the political season when they used “Rockin’ In The Free World” by Neil Young.  And singer Adele also issued a similar edict.

Musicians vs. political campaigns seems to raise its head every election cycle, and for some background here’s a great article from Perth, Australia’s WATODAY.
