Academy Award nominated actress Amy Adams will portray rock legend Janis Joplin in an upcoming biopic called 'Get It While You Can.'  Adams’ name was first rumored to play Joplin in 2010, but the film has been stuck in development hell ever since. In 2012, it was reported that Adams had dropped out of the project and more than a few directors have come and gone.

Now, according to ScreenCrush, acclaimed director Jean Marc-Vallee (‘Dallas Buyers Club,’ ‘Wild‘) has signed to direct the biopic. Last year, Vallee helped guide both Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto to Oscar wins for their roles in ‘Dallas Buyers Club,’ and Reese Witherspoon is currently earning some early awards buzz for her part in ‘Wild.’

Filming is expected to begin in the second half of 2015.
